For me with some academy players starting to break though and making a name in the team we need to start thinking about some chants for them and not only sings about Wayne Rooney!!! (Even though he did show his class tonight)
I would start off with for me an obvious chant for me as 'Surfin Bird' by the Trashman. I think a 'Well everybodys heard about the bird, Bird Bird Bird, Bird is the Word, oh bird bird bird, bird is the... Oh don't you know about the bird well everybody knows that the bird is the word....'.
This to me is too obvious but needs to be done. With youth clearly the way the club want to go what new chants can people think of to help lift these young talents to the next level.
Oh what a Knight! (December 1963, Frankie Vali & The Four Seasons) must also be an easy one for someone to work out for Jason Knight.
I feel the club needs some new chants and need to follow the clubs way of thinking that youth is the way forward. Any other suggestion?
Bird is the word

Bird is the word is almost impossible to sing for a large crowd. It is too fast and no one would be able synchronise their singing. Besides which it is a rubbish song and very few people know it.
Similarly "What a night" is too wordy to be easily changed in to a football chant. How about Patti Smith's, "because the night" chorus. Only two lines to remember, perfect for the average football fan.
Duane Holmes fits perfectly with John Denver's country road and of course Marriott fits with Swing low sweet chariot.
Have to agree about new chants. Most are pretty stupid. I mean "Who the f********g hell are you?" . Can't they read the scoreboard, the fixtures list, the programme and the big screen or hear the announcements?
