Ole or another manager?

This summer would you give Ole another year of getting his signings and implementing his style of football or would you want the club to appoint another manager?

Ole has brought in good players, let go unwanted players and given youth a chance but i just feel another manager would get more out of these players and Ole lacks the tactical know how. Even a Brendan Rogers or Chris Wilder would get this more out of this team because they have a well oiled system (attacking formation, set pieces, player management and tactics) and its the system which Ole hasnt quite mastered and i dont think he ever will.

Ole will always be a player legend no one can deny that but a top level manager i cant see it

Keep faith will Ole for another year?

And we were never in danger of losing to Anderlecht. Jose just went into ‘win trophies at any cost mode and it worked.

---------------

Anderlecht were totally out playing us up until just after the hour when they're manager took off tielemans and others to save them for their big domestic tie that weekend

We got lucky

And we absolutely should have went out against vigo... We played well in the first leg but didn't miss a chance like guadetti did in the last minute

The trophy at all costs mode is bull... As was your constant defence of the poor football and performances after Christmas as him instructing the team to conserve energy... We were literally just not very good...

And didn't have the right players for his tactics....

Which is why its not as simple as dropping in a new manager

After all

"People forget that Jose had his own rebuild after all the terrible signings that LVG made. He also had to ship out the club legend Rooney who was obsessed with playing in midfield."

You'll note i didn't forget.... I mentioned the squad largely wasn't his own

Much like Ole's isn't now.... Nice for you to acknowledge its a problem and there is a bigger picture after all though
----------------------------------------------------------------------

But Jose took a squad that wasn’t his own and made the CL in his first season and won trophies too.

You pay too much attention to whose players are whose. Look at Chelsea - managers inherit other managers players all the time and tweak it. I think we United fans have brainwashed ourselves into thinking this huge rebuild needs to happen and THEN things get better. It doesn’t need to be that drastic.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Jose scraped the champions league while having a worse domestic campaign.... Which Ole could still do

Chelsea have never taken more than a short term approach... Hence the constant sack and tweak

I think we just crave something long-term again rather than boom and bust

Worth mentioning.... Chelsea are abandoning that approach and seem to be changing to what we crave

As did city.... Prepping before Pep

As did Liverpool with Klopp and building

Maybe we're not brainwashed actually after all

I'd prefer a patient rebuild (regardless of Ole or Poch or Whoever) that can help us long term than an instant glory and crash approach any day

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Fair enough. But if Ole isn't the manager you'd like in that scenario (and you really shouldn't), who do you want and why? Obvs anybody would be better qualified than Ole. But long term seems more a pipe dream than a realistic expectation.

He needs to get CL football or go

Especially as the bar is as low as ever for top 4 this season
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Let me get this right:

If we manage to secure CL football next season, you won’t continue to call for the manager to be sacked this summer?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

As I said to Darren yesterday which he agreed was fair..

‘As long as Poch is available and as long as Ole continues to confound us with bizarre decisions etc I won’t ever be happy with him as manager BUT as I assume he has targets to hit, I can’t complain if he makes the CL next season’
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Book-fackin-marked
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Do it 😂

I think I’m being fair. I’d begrudgingly accept him get another season if he makes the CL.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wait wait wait!

You’re saying he gets the whole of next season without question if we qualify for the CL?

Say we finish 8th and the football is just as boring by the end of the season

Poch is available and says he is interested

What do you choose?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

If we finish as low as 8th he'll be gone.... Unless there's something like Ighalo infecting the entire squad with kungflu or a similar sort of disaster

I'm open to Poch... Absolutely a good coach.... My points on him are more pushing back against you granting messiah status

I'm open to Nagelsmann... Would be a really bold appointment

Open to anyone bar Moyes, LVG or Jose

Again though.... Poch/Nagelsmann... Our squad doesn't suit eithers preferred tactics (especially Nagelsmann)

Look... I'm not strictly Ole in or out

I love the guy... But I'm not blind to things he gets wrong

But he's not getting everything wrong... And I'm giving him a bit of (maybe a lot of) benefit of the doubt re formation and tactics as to players available. I'd imagine he'd rather have added more players in and shipped more out.... Unless he's mad obv. Our lack of movement up front drives me mad... Yesterday being a perfect example... I don't know whether to blame him or just give up on martial

I again think our biggest problem is the clubs direction and planning regarding on field issues... Or lack of it

And i think it'll be a huge problem for whoever is manager.... Unless we stumble on a Fergie like genius

We're still going to have to give time and patience and rebuild... Unless we see a structural change up above, someone who understands football, who can steer us, we'll likely continue to fail

Noooo, my wording may have been off there.

I mean if he makes the CL I’d ‘allow’ (you know what I mean) him to keep the job going into season 2. I can’t say all of season 2 because he might start horrifically.

What would be the minimum expectation for Ole to keep his job Shugsy?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I honestly don't know... Champions league and he's safe

In saying that Jose finished second but i hated the season and the nonsense he was spouting that much I'd have sacked him that summer

Again... I'm not blindly, defend at all costs, "robb under Jose or Moysie" Ole in

It depends on what happens between now and the end of the season... Scrape CL, win the Europa, win FA cup while just missing out of top 4... Given the injuries etc... Improving performance and style with players returning

Or we could sink like a stone... Or we could scrape top 4 but the play gets worse

All possible

I just don't know... For me anyway.

Results and CL will probably make the decision for Ed.

We obviously need a better manager. When we fail to make CL football I suspect that is just what will happen as well.

Get the players and the manager right and all the problems with the board will just float away.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Ignoring that ultimately the problems with the board are what has caused the issue with manager appointments and player purchases

-------------------------------------------------------------

The board have appointed the best managers available

And those managers have chosen the players

Structural changes from top to bottom with Ed going back to doing what he does best whatever the fack that is.
