The has been no totally successful signing post SAF. May sound harsh but it’s true imo.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
This has more to do with the clubs structure and the systems we played, than anything else. A lot of very talented players in that listed.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Also a fair point.
Pogba and Martial could have been huge successes with the right players around him.
Mata also maybe.

£60m for Bailly, £67m for Lindelof and £75m for FredMadness. Would love to know how they reach those valuations.

Wouldn’t we all.

“Liverpool, the Reds have spent around £300m less than United since 2012-13 and have brought in an awful lot more in sales, but have improved consistently under Jurgen Klopp.”
Yep, because they had the balls to fire a manager early the season as a much, much better option was available.
He then devised a way of playing and bought players who fit into, and thrive within that system, doesn’t matter if they’re a big name player who Liverpool needed to break the bank for or a relatively unknown player for a different league.
Our transfers are so basic and we look like we’re just throwing players together and hoping they work it out on a match-day, and that’s as true for Ole as it was for the other post-SAF managers.
But we didn’t need an article from the Beeb to lay bare how poor our transfers have been, we see it every week...

......
It was a very good reminder of the scale of the problem.

I was thinking that. Depay is a good example, he's looked great at Lyon.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing and when you've no stake in any decisions etc it's easy to look back and act like they were awful or you would have done differently.
A lot haven't worked out but it's harsh to call a lot of signings awful or blame people now. A lot of fans were largely optimistic about a lot of those signings but seem to have really short memories.
I can blame the Baird for some things but I won't be one of those who lambasts signings such as Shaw, Depay. Herrera, Pogba and plenty of others because at the time I was pretty happy we got them.
There haven't been many signings that the fan base has largely been unhappy about at the time but for a number of reasons they haven't worked out.
I posted on another site with links to plenty of articles from the times of many signings showing that there was an awful lot of happiness for a majority of the time. The Do Maria signing for example had an awful lot of fans very excited but sure, it's easy to now turn round and say how terrible it was etc but I can guarantee if we hadn't signed him then a large portion of the fan base would have been kicking off and saying how we weren't in for top players, Ed is incompetent and unable to attract the best or the Glazers aren't allowing us to spent or any other number of generic complaints and insults our lot regularly throw around.

Mata is another that's been misused/a victim of the changes in managers. Despite his recent form I would classify him as a success.

His recent form has been fantastic, if we’re talking about the immediate past.
He’s been arguably our best player over the last five or so games.
