We won. Doesn’t matter how we played.

If we win every match to the end of the season 1-0 and play like garbage, then there’s no need to complain.

He was filling in there when Trent got forward, as Wijnaldum was doing when Robertson went forward. That's the tactic and has been for a long time. This is why I always get frustrated when people tell me full backs are out of position. They are supposed to get forward, if we lose the ball whilst they are forward, it's down to the midfield and centre backs to cover. With our two quick centre backs and tactically intelligent midfielders, this works excellently.
