Great saving tackle from Aurier

which had it not been made, would have given Villa in all probability a goal, and they would then have been leading 3-2, and no coming back from that.

Serge Aurier.

The haters are fortunately in a minority. You know who you are.

Cannot really say lucky Grandspur

With our traditional slow start we should have been 3-0 in the first 30 minutes and only got into the game after that. Ok from then on it was mostly us but a good side would have punished us for the slow start.

We have had a lot of luck in the last 3 games to be honest but long may it last.

Heres something I've never said before, Sanchez was our best defender today.

Any 3 points away from home is a good result and although we were probably worth the win today lets not forget Villa missed some great chances themselves.

If/when Jose sorts out the defence we will be in a good place because going forward our pace is blistering and very exciting.

The negative comments about Aurier are reminincent of those said about Rose and Sissoko in years gone by. I wonder what the common denominator is???

Don’t start this bollox again mate.

Rose and Sissoko were shiiit at the time. They they got a lot better and the criticism stopped.

Don't agree but they were both better than Toby which isn't saying much either.

He was obviously told to do "a job on Grealish".

Had a mare of an opening 20 minutes though.

Got a bit better throughout the game

The classic - if they had taken all their chances they would have been 2-0 3-0 4-0 up by the time we got going!

These are ridiculous statements unless you want to readily concede that if all our 10 on target chances went in and all their did we would have run out as convincing 10-4 winners. Really the only passable chance they missed was the one where Davies cleared it off the line, all coming from Aldi getting skinned by Grealish.

Spurs changed things at HT and Grealish was far less of an issue. Initially it was clever tactics by AV, who saw that Aurier plays more advanced than a standard RB, and Grealish occupied the same behind him. He was thus running at the CBs or at Aurier with little support. Our change to 442 saw Aurier be more of a standars RB and helped out by Moura more. Grealish got far less joy here and so moved more centrally.

Games ebb and flow. Tactics and counter tactics. Villa exploited our set up initially and we countered theirs after changes at HT. So initially the system did not help our defenders and we changed it, but the biggest problem has been individual errors - Aurier, Lloris, Toby, Sanchez have all been guilty of these. Those singling out Aurier are just blinkered.

Son was probably our worst player but his goals bailed him out big time
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

With the revelation that Sonny fractured his arm in the first few minutes of the game I have to apologise for criticizing his performance.

Yes he had a poor game but thats no big surprise with that injury and it showed a lot of balls to stay out there for the rest of the game and to score twice.

From what I have read he got that injury in the first minute or two so fair play to him.
