UK passports NON EU queue

"Colin Browning", posted an angry tweet yesterday bemoaning the service he was receiving in Amsterdam’s Airport Schipol.

Alongside a picture that appeared to show a queue within the airport, Colin wrote: “Absolutely disgusting service at Schiphol airport. 55 minutes we have been stood in the immigration queue. This isn’t the Brexit I voted for".

Apologies for the long post!

As the WA is now law, we have a much greater understanding of what will happen. And what will not.

The obvious downgrading of our global/EU trading relationships aside, the main (other than the NI protocol) differences from the ‘May’ deal are commitments to workers’ rights, data, environmental (plus emissions) standards (and others) were removed from the (binding) WA to the non-binding political declaration.

If it were the government’s intentions to maintain baseline EU standards, which we’ve enjoyed over the years, (which we could improve on) it’s somewhat concerning the government chose to reengage on their previous commitments to maintain basic EU standards.

There is also areas like security and counter terrorism that require ECJ (legal) oversight.

And as a non-member state, (and governments rejection of the ECJ) UK security agencies will no longer have access to next year. Which regrettably is getting next to no media coverage whatsoever. Please see:

https://ec.europa.eu/home-affairs/what-we-do/policies/borders-and-visas/schengen-information-system_en

https://www.europol.europa.eu/about-europol/european-counter-terrorism-centre-ectc

In regard to strains on public services etc this has had absolutely nothing to do with EU immigration.

As the below MAC report (commissioned by the government in 2018) confirmed:

https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/741926/Final_EEA_report.PDF

Please see chapter five which found that EU nationals taxation, and labour/skills etc contributed considerably more to public services than they consumed. Circa
£4.7bn (from 2017) more for example.

Widespread Government cuts to public spending over the last decade has caused untold damage to the provision of public services but immigration has always been the convenient scapegoat. Which resonated with many folk up and down the country. As they shouldered the effects of austerity.

Right, so you’re basically blaming immigrants for waiting times and the doctors, housing shortages, and school standards and not the policies of our own government and chronic underinvestment.

Classic.

Not difficult to work out which way you voted. You people are all the same.
------------------------------------------------------------------

No I blame over population to be honest. I have no problem whatsoever with people coming over to England but our infrastructure can only support so many and I do think we are over populated.

I wonder why so many want to come over here to be honest because according to you its such a bad country full of ignorant racist fools. Strange that dont you think?

I actually work with loads of eastern europeans and am good friends with most of them, by the way they dont like their own countries being in the EU and have told me that if they could have voted they would have voted to leave as well.

Still as this country is going to be so bad now we are leaving (according to you of course) the racists wont have to worry cos all those "foreigners" will be leaving anyway.

But we all know that is not going to happen because like us the people who have made their lives in this country have done it because its a good place to live and it wont change despite your rantings and prophesies of doom and gloom.

Makes me wonder who you people will blame all our problems on once you’ve kicked out all the foreigners.

Single mothers, students and the “loony left” no doubt.

The only thing this crappy country is overpopulated with is undeducted racists.

Ironically the hostile environment implemented by the government, loss of rights, the botched settlement scheme etc has led to tens of thousands of EU nationals leaving the UK.

There are skills shortages in every single sector in the country.

The lastest brain fart of a policy announced today has been roundly criticised by the business community. In particular social care, hospitality, catering, agriculture, healthcare, retail, to name a few because it will decimate their businesses.
