Spit ……. it's because it's competitive that for me that makes it a good league.

Whether the players and the ability are any better than previous, I think that's difficult to say. We can all say that this, that and the other players were/are better, but it's different times, different opponents - who knows, might be true, might not? Great soundbite though.

that's very true, my comments above came from a debate with a guy in the office.. I said "we have the most competitive league in the world in England', and he piped up saying its b o llox English teams rarely win the CL..", I said you've missed my point, I said competitive, not the best teams...

thinking about the championship, I do think the 'level' is a lot different to two years ago, for the reasons that LIW states, but of course there's no hard and fast rule - you could argue when Newcastle won it by about 700 points.. that the league was even worse then, just one or two teams who are up there and the others fight for scraps.

I think by and large Liw calls things annoyingly well, so he's probably right.

I'm not convinced it's weaker, whatever that means, it's just different. I do think this is a fantastic opportunity to get out of it, as it was last season. I'm not sure we'll get a better set up and chance to do it.

Not sure 25 points difference is the definition of competitive.

Else, the debate was 2 years ago to be fair.

its not exactly competitive for the title race.. but never been as competitive for top 4.

If we had players who could put the ball in the net, we'd be 20 odd points clear, hands down. I've not seen one good team come to Elland Rd, we've only had ourselves to blame for any poor results, because we've bossed everyone, our finishing has let us down.

Cardiff game, was the best football I've seen us play for 15+ years, until they scored....

Weakest league I've ever seen and it's down to poor teams and lack of investment.

disagree, "weakest league ever seen", wouldn't go that far.

being in a league that has teams joining from two directions each year makes it a bit harder to call how they will make an impact each year. the pl is pretty easy to call, looking at my past predictions ive done pretty well. the campionship is a different kettle of fish.
in the past we've had champions come up and pass right through to the pl. the last few years with the exception of sheffield utd no team has made much of an impact and with weak teams coming down the league does seen a little easier.
getting that second goal in so many games that we dominated would have seen us at least 20 points up and strolling to the promised land. i don't think west brom or fullum can say that.

Any league in the world is only as strong as its strongest team, the same as as weak as its weakest!..

LIW says not enough money being spent, that's down to clubs coming down with unbelievable money making it almost impossible for clubs stuck in this league to match, its a case of clubs managing their finances the best they can on the limit set by the authority's which could be argued give those coming down an even bigger advantage!..

Reasons why players wanted by fans don't always come in, that limit makes it very difficult and that's why the Championship is the hardest in the world to get out of!..

There are other 2nd Divs in the world that are as hard, but they don't cost what is needed to get to the Premier league!..

The league is extremely competitive.
11 clubs still vying for a top two place
17 clubs vying for a playoff place
7 clubs battling against relegation.

I don’t understand the weak league opinion.
The table consists of 18 teams that were in it last season. That’s 75% of the teams that stay in the same division.

It’s fair to say that both derby and Boro have weakened. Boro have pulled the purse strings shut and balance the books significantly. Derby lost their loan trio and lost their captain. However, Forest have invested loads of money and finally reaping the benefits on the pitch and Brentford keep finding players to improve their side. West Brom managed to keep and add to their squad.

Of the sides coming down Fulham invested in players and kept a shed load of high transfer players. Cardiff have retained large parts of their squad and are coming fast on the rails. They have lost the second fewest games in the league. Huddersfield have struggled to keep their players - changes in ownership and management has seen them struggle.
Fulham very much the Villa of last season.

Of the teams coming up Barnsley and Luton May be struggling but the they are a damn sight better than Ipswich and Bolton last season, charlton have replaced the mighty Rotherham.

maybe weak is being used, against quality, teams can only compete against what is put up infront of them, what is most important is good form, we were again running away with the league but ran into bad form again for whatever reason, supply from last 3rd , completion rate etc.....There is no doubt it is very exiting this year with loads now in the mix. all teams who go up deserve it but some buy badly & do not perform.
