Are Managers allowed to do this ?

https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/wheres-advantage-its-nonsense-reading-boss-mark-bowen-frustrated-referee-lets-leeds-united-game-flow-1887902

"The fourth official said his communication with the referee, his ear piece wasn't working, no problem with that. I said to him halfway through the first half, I did not want any advantage played, unless somebody was literally clean through on goal, please .....we don't want any advantage, we want to kill the game, set up set-plays we worked on in the week.

"Start of the second half he told me yes, he told the referee, don't worry about it. Then five minutes to go in the game, there were two opportunities where we should have had free-kicks, the chance to put the ball in the box and the referee is putting his hands up saying play on. I'll go see him again, in a nice way, just have a conversation about it but I don't know how that can come about.

Seems he's trying to influence how the Ref officiates the game so his team benefit surely this can't be right

Do you think the referee told the manager he didn’t want see his full backs pushing too far up the pitch today?

Referee is the boss. It’s his decision on how to interpret the laws of the game. The better referees all play advantage and it should be consistent for all sides.

Completely against the ethics of the game, the ref is in charge and that's the end of it. Bowen is absolutely entitled to disagree with any decisions made, but for me he cannot be allowed to influence a ref's performance.

I don’t think you understand the definition or purpose of ‘advantage’

Have Faith,
Bowen is stating he told the Ref he didn't want him to play the advantage as he planned to break up the flow of the game to allow his side to put into practice his own game play ie set pieces.

I can't agree with this at all

surly it has to be the ref who decides if there is an advantage and to play on. if he then deems there isn't one he blows for a free kick.
you see quite often a ref let play continue and then stop it and go back to the free kick spot.
a manager can't pick and choose which rules of the game to play by.

I heard the Ref was an Aussie, thought he did ok for a colonial

Referees play advantage and when it works against the team playing it he can call play back!..

A referee is the one who decides and shouldn't be told by his assistant that a trainer isn't happy about him playing advantage, I wonder how many times advantage has been played in his teams favour, or does he only want it against Leeds United?..

Only wants it when it suits him Mucker

Managers shouldn't be able to tell referees how to play, especially if in the process they talk about how they are trying to break up the play by taking soft freekicks.

Thought the referee today had a good game. My opinion of that is even greater now. Good on him for sticking to how he thought the rules should be enforced.

"Only wants it when it suits him Mucker "

So he only wants to give us an disadvantage!..

He should have said something against the wind and got the game abandoned!.
