Corners, penaltys and European football

All virtually obsolete now at City. Out of free kicks, goal kicks and throw ins I wonder which will be next to follow 🤔

Another weekend of questionable var decisions. At least Leicester weren’t disadvantaged by this in the end. And RE the Spurs game when I saw it the first couple of times I didn’t think it was a red either myself. Beyond that I haven’t seen Watford’s potential equaliser, but regardless I have reservations about the new “handball" rule for the attacking side, and I think the advantage to the attackers in offside has been totally lost, regressed, and flipped around.

This might seem like a pretty pointless article, but I’ve had a great weekend of sports with a tough away win for City, staying up to see Fury completely outclass Wilder, and then sat watching England against Ireland. To bring it back round to relevance, so much of my time is spend absorbed in City that I don’t really follow other sports, but watching the rugby today I can’t help but feel how much more right they’ve got it - don’t get me wrong I’d rather watch Kevin De Bruyne spreading a spherical ball around from midfield than 30 blokes rolling over each other, but in terms of following the match on telly, respect to the other side as well as officials, I think the general package of rugby is far superior to ours. I’d be interested to see what it’s like to go to a game since I’ve not been to see rugby live after Sale left Edgeley Park.
