Greatest English Club Side of All Time

Evening lads

Don’t know if anyone caught the end of Monday Night Football but Carragher and Neville had a long chat about the greatest English club side ever (or at least post 1960 - or some time around then)

They used a criteria which I’ll try and find but it was a points based criteria (5 points for European Cup, 4 points for League title, 3 for domestic cups) etc.

Teams were picked over a period of 3 years.

And the results were ...

1. Liverpool 75-78
2. United 06-09
3. Liverpool 81-84
4. United 99-01
5. Forrest 77-80
6. Arsenal 01-04
7. Chelsea 04-07
8. Everton 84-87
9. Spurs 60-63
10. Villa 81-83
11. United 65-68
12. Leeds 68-71

Interesting debate.

Just thinking about the spods, You hear about the tag

This goes back to what Carragher said about the ability to dominate in Europe as well as domestically.

A fifth of the teams on their list didn't win anything in Europe. I'm pretty sure they just didn't want too many United and liverpool sides so they threw leeds a bone

Liverpool 17/18-19/20 (already on 10 points with a league title to come at the very least)

and

Man City 17/18-19/20 (already on 12 points and are on course for runner up points and are in a league cup final)

look destined to join this list

A treble win for liverpool this season would put them on 21 points, tied for 2nd place

A 2nd place finish, 2 domestic cup wins and a champions league win would put city on 21 points, tied for 2nd place

All to play for here, stay tuned

Removed city because I got my maths terribly wrong (awarded 5 points for league titles and 2 points for league cup)

Will leave this thread alone now
