It is exactly 1 year to the day that Brendan the Rat Rodgers left Celtic and took over at Leicester City.
1 year on and some people outside of Celtic would probably expect the anger and disbelief at what he did to go away but any real Celtic man will tell you it never will. Yes we appear to be better off now that he’s left and yes we still won the league and Scottish Cup in-spite of him bailing but it’s besides the point.
To leave 24/48 hours before Tynecastle, was bad enough but to try take every single coach and member of the Sports Science team and leave us with nothing but the players and under 18s coach is unforgivable. He tried to bury us that night, he tried to throw the title race up in the air as had we not won that night the gap could have been 4 or 5 points, which was nothing with 10 games to play including 2 OF games.
We got lucky however, Neil Lennon was out of a job having been punted by Hibs, it’s surreal to think how lucky Lennon got but so were we. Yes he came in and the football was far from great but he did win the league, won the Scottish cup and won 1 of 2 OF games. He kept us ticking over and to be fair most of thought thanks but be on your way in the summer.
That didn’t happen and look at us now, 12 points clear, a chance to qualify for the EL last 16 tomorrow, won the league cup and a chance to go into the semi finals of the Scottish cup on Sunday, all the while playing the best football seen since the Invincible season.
All the rat had to do was stay to the summer and he’d have been considered the 2nd greatest manager in our history. Instead he’s remembered as a fraud and a rat.
Someone asked the other day should Rodgers be welcomed back and I said I wouldn’t boo him but would I fluck applaud him, don’t ever forgot what he tried to do to us a year ago today, fluck him, a hope he falls and knocks out his fake white teeth in the Clyde tunnel.
