Manchester United's net debt rises £73.6m to £391.3m in three months according to Q2 results published, whilst Ed is publicly backing Ole to implement the owner’s footballing vision.
Not surprisingly chickens are coming home to roost for the Glazer’s ‘bottom line’ mainly as a result of not qualifying for the CL. This not only includes a dramatic fall in TV broadcast money but it also all ‘Total revenues’ as well.
The poor Q2 net results include the 3 months up to 31 December 2019 (so that is from 1st October 2019) caused mainly by ‘investment in players’. Who these players are, I am not sure and since then we have now signed Bruno for c. £50m.
However, as gross debt remains the same and apparently is still 'manageable' our Ed is bullish about the future; “The foundation for delivering the long-term success that we are all working towards is in place as we implement our plan and our footballing vision with Ole."
So Ole is here to stay it seems for at least another season unless something drastic happens to results. Ole is a long-term project with still much to do according to Ed, who seems to be calling the shots as ever, so I can’t see that CL qualification this year is essential for Ole to keep his job this summer.
So best for the anti-Ole brigade to suck it up and just enjoy the ride with the rest of us.
If you want really change at the club, I would look at Ed, the Glazers, their vision for the future, and the bigger picture.
