Deep rooted failure

Everyone said Arteta had a big job. Well let me tell you, it’s even worse. He gets the blame for tonight for his shocking tactics as well as certain players, who I hope will not be playing any serious minutes for rest of season.. Clear as day Saka is the one man truly on form so why not utilise left side? Instead we’re left with that donkey, Pepe on the right to constantly make bad decisions.

Even deep into ET, Saka at one point was playing in good crosses but Olympiakos just bodied him out, simply because he was the only one on the left side.

We’re used to seeing this crap in CL, not some two bob Europa League. Losing to Bayern 5-1 back to back is one thing, however this wipes away any pride Arsenal may have had.

It just reminds me of Spurs so much. That club is covered in failure from top to bottom. It took Pochetino years to get them away, but believe it or not their highest point was losing a CL final, which ironically was considered a success. Arsenal are headed the same way. I think Arteta will turn out to be a good coach, but Arsenal as a club are finished. For the next decade, we will be firmly midtable and forgotten across the world.

As for the league, CL spot looks very tight. Is it worth taking a risk? Definitely not because we’ll end up with another EL spot, which I don’t want Arsenal to ever compete in again. It’s a degrading competition when you’re by far the favourite and can’t even get past first stage of KO.

What a ridiculous comment. Whether you like it or not currently you aren’t a champions league caliber side, you are a Europa league side. You should absolutely be happy with European football at this current stage and be trying to win it, and you aren’t ‘by far the favourite’. For a start united are above you in the league and still in the comp, then you have the likes of Sevilla and inter and even Getafe who are all quality sides in the comp.

It’s madness to say you don’t want to compete in the European competition that you have a chance of winning. Quite frankly, i don’t think you’d make it out of the group stage of the champions league currently.

It was a very bad game from us. So passive and every player looked scared to take the initiative, especially going forward. That kind of attitude has been the downfall of arsenal for many many years now, and it is worrying it still exists for whatever reason

I wrote this season off a while ago, so I’m trying not to be too pîśśed off. If we win the majority of our games rest of the season then hopefully we can write this off as a bad day, then start restart and rebuild for next season

I don’t think we had it in us to win this competition anyway. But it’s hard to forget about the consequences of yet another year out of CL. These periods have happened to other clubs( bit like Liverpool) it’s on the owners and club to be smart and guide us out of this mess over next few years. It’s possible, but it’s going to be a long ride

Yesterday evening I randomly got a strange feeling that we were going to cok it up tonight and the writing was on the wall throughout that whole match to see, Arteta did not do enough early enough to change that, why has Martinelli been suddenly frozen out of the team when he in great form? Surely put him on the left and Auba in the middle considering Lacazette is still not in good form despite his couple of goals recently.

Like you, I never believed we were in with a shout of winning this competition - especially given the season we've had with long periods of bad form.

However, I am still hopeful that Arteta will be a good manager for us in the long run and I'm sure he will learn quickly from these experiences.

Defending on Olympiakos' winner was so Arsenal. Basic understanding to hold your line on a deep inswinging cross so of course one guy's out of sync to play the scorer onside. Maddening stuff if I was an Arsenal fan.

I can't imagine what went through Auba's head when he sees a replay of that cos he appeared to take that late miss personally, like he let the team down.

As a nuetral, a premier league side should never lose to a greek side at home ffs. They wouldn't last in the premier league for a season.

Not the first big team to be knocked out of Euro competition by Olympiakos and won't be the last.

Bit 'English Football" up yaself a bit there. Also the exact same mentality toward the game, is what seen our player lose tonight. Olympiakos is a team that WILL punish any side who takes them for granted.

Martinelli should have been on much sooner. I am getting concerned how we start games so poorly.
Recent games Arteta has motivated them at half time but that didn’t happen today.

This is a wake up call for Arteta to show that while he has made some improvements, there is still a long way to go. A reminder that he can’t rely on this squad to reach his and the clubs goals

Emperor,
I don't think that Arteta will wake up in the near future. He is not PL manager material, at best he should be working for an experienced manager. Steven Gerrard, the Liverpool love child, is also failing at Glasgow Rangers. The theory that a good player can automatically become a competent winning manager is the result of shallow thinking!
