Billy Gilmour - Chelsea Have A Player

What a great display by the young kid. Unbelievable feet and confidence. Absolutely looked the part against a decent Liverpool team.

Can't believe Chelsea nicked him so cheaply but that is the way it goes around that age group.

Didnt see the game as watched Edinburgh derby with couple of Hibees.....Hearts p!ssed all over them. I have a lot of respect for Gilmour and he has really buckled down when plenty others in the same boat stagnate... seems level headed toothinks still need a wee bit more bulk but sure that will come

I thought that until i seen him flying into tackles, he got man of the match and he was comfortably the best player on the pitch.

No mean feat against Liverpool, straight into the Scotland squad on the back of that, he has to be.

What is mental is it being easier to break into the 1st team at Chelsea than Rangers. To be fair the lad saw the writing on the wall and got out while he could. Ridiculous pressure on the OF to win every week.

I'm pretty sure he was knocking on the door of the first team squad and Rangers did everything they could to keep hold of him, but his mind was made up.

And you're right, the pressure to win in the OF is ridiculous, and the fans can be terrible for getting on a young player's back if anything goes wrong.

He’d already made his decision a year before he joined Chelsea.

Didn’t see him last night, but did hear them talking about him after the match and they were glowing in their praise of him.

Glad he left you.

It was the word on the street a lot longer than that, mate.

Heard an interesting story about his meeting with Arsenal when he was being touted around. Not for on here. Let's just say an interesting negotiating technique, if true?

Him and his family were on holiday at the same hotel as us in Zante the year before he joined Chelsea and my son had a few kicks outs with him. I’d never heard of him, but he was quite open about his move.

Fair play to him for doing it. Lot of youngsters head south and you never here about them again.

Not what rangers need right now of course-lacks the physicality they want apparently.

He was at Celtic too as a youngster, missed out on him due to him not being able to get from his home to Celtic's training in time after school.

Always glad to see a Scottish player genuinely comfortable taking the ball under pressure.

Obviously worked in his favour Chelsea had the transfer ban....it allowed him to get closer to the first team and more recognised

I think in these situations you also need to consider he's probably already on top end Rangers wages. Football wise it was a risk, although it's not like Rangers have been amazing at bringing kids into the team but financially this was his opportunity he had to take.

And he was called Billy which is frowned upon.
