Playing Man Yoo yet again - 3rd time in as many seasons. A team that has stagnated and even declined in the years since Sir Alex left but still cling on in a mis-guided, innocent way not realising that they have been usurped by the blue half of Madchester. Or even the blue part of the East Midlands.

A short trip for all the plastics in the East Midlands to the home of football - in Derby. I know full well that many will be making the perilous journey over the A52 at Highgate Lane - remember the one at Meadow Lane has not been built yet.

What team to put out? Do we rest Rooney? That would be jokes , Huddz is still out but Max Bird is quietly and efficiently striking up a decent understanding with Rooney and is improving exponentially. Like the Covid19 .Chris Martin may be the better choice to hold up front and I would like to see Wisdom at the centre back with Clarke but then what do I know?

Man Yoo have the the dilemma of going for broke with a strong team and winning and being expected to or fielding a 'weaker' team and risking embarrassment.

The game has been touted as Wayne Rooney v His Old Club but this does Derby a dis-service. Anyway I expect the 28,000 or so Derby fans that turn up to be there on Sunday when Lancashire's other top team roll into town.

Team news when it arrives. Ang?

As predicted, we got tonked.

Feel sorry for the young lads who did themselves justice throughout looking at the team sheet who had Evans and Forsyth as CB's.

Talk about having to up your game to pretect that pair.

First time I've really questioned Cocu as I'm all for what his aim is but defending is all about square pegs in square holes and we had neither.

I'd live with it if we were 6th/10th position in the league but nope we are on the summer holidays now.

A mutual friend of ours says the CBs played well 🤔

Anyone who went to the game feel a bit cheated by Cocu's team selection. I have no problem with the players but we had 5 teenagers on the pitch (eventually) and two central defenders, neither of whom play there regularly. We created enough chances to win the game but conceded two goals from the area which is normally the province of central defenders. For the second goal Forsyth appeared to win the ball from Ighalo but then inexplicably didn't clear it straight away. In general Evans and Forsyth tried their best throughout the game but I can't help thinking that with a bit more experience of playing in that position they might have done better for goals 2 and 3.

Looks like we may have lost Lawrence for few games as well.

I didn't feel cheated though I was surprised by the centre half selections. Wisdom was ill so not available. I don't think Davies would have fared well so under the circumstances Evans was a reasonable choice but I would have preferred Clarke alongside him. I think it's likely we would have lost the game regardless. I thought United played well.

I doubt Lawrence will be out for long, if at all. It was just a knock according to Cocu so it depends on how it settles down today and tomorrow.

Morning all 👍🏼
I watched the game on TV & I was happy to see the way we played. I too was surprised by the selection in defence but they did OK, I think Davis was being saved for the Blackburn game.
Roos did well too.

Davis being saved is a worry right there.

Don't want him injured so he can't cover from the bench....
