Emotional attachment

Honestly guys , I completely have lost any sort of emotional attachment to these group of losers and it pretty much was the final nail in the coffin for me after the CL final. I have been getting frustrated with Spurs inability to achieve something for years and them letting us down season after season was eventually going to come to a head, but after the way they performed in the biggest game in the clubs history and the way we went out with a pathetic whimper, despite Liverpool being bang average, that was pretty much it for me with this lot.

There’s only so much you can take of building yourself up with this club, only to be consistently let down every single season and I mean literally every single season. It’s been shocking for a long time, way before Mourinho took over, and it’s just been a clusterf** of a season with a stagnated squad that some of us predicted would happen years ago.

None of these players I have any sort affiliation or emotional attachment towards anymore apart from Son, Kane and to a certain extent Lo Celso, who’s been the only bright spark in the absolute heap of s** dross signings we have made ( Gedson, Ndombele, Sessegnon) f*** awful the whole trio of them. Players like Tanganga I have some sort of attachment to, but in general I can count on one hand the guys I would keep.

The rest of these losers I would happily sell tomorrow and competely rebuild. Dele Ali, Dier, Aurier, Ndombele, Sanchez, Davies, Sess etc can buuuuugger off for all I care. Lowest I have felt supporting Spurs in years , but this was apparent last season to. The CL totally papered over the cracks, it’s been shocking for well over a year.

Don, are you at all coming around to the idea that Mourinho may not win us anything mate?

I know he's been hit with injuries, but it's kind of showing he's just as beatable as a manager when he doesn't have the tools at Spurs, as anyone else.

He had improved second seasons at United and Chelsea however with us it looks like too much of a gap to bridge, and that's with Levy probably not willing to spend the sort of money that those clubs did.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Hiw can you possibly judge Mourinho when since he has come in, Kane, Son and Sissoko are all injured, and Eriksen had gone. Just about Spurs best four players all missing or no longer at Spurs.

The time to judge him will be next season, when all the better players are back, and new faces come in.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You might not be able to judge him properly until next season but you can still look for improvements in the side even without some of these players. Where's the improvement in the defence? Or the performances? There is none. Even Ancelotti and Arteta have got their teams to improve in some ways.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

How can you look for improvement when all the best players are missing. Did you demand the same from the previous manager?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We don't have any of our best players missing from the defence and yet it's got worse if anything under Mourinho. Fewer clean sheets under him than under Poch.

Everyone is for sale as far as I am concerned. Kane reluctantly but we probably need to fund a rebuild. Absolutely fed up with seeing the caaaaants every week pull on the jersey and produce shytttteeee. Been going on 15 months now. They couldn’t even turn up for the CL final ffs. The facking CL final and not one caaant turned up.

Embarrassing.

Kane stays Chronic. Under no circumstances should Kane be funded for new players. Kane goes, then I think the Spurs fans will give up on the club and to right. I won’t pay to see Spurs again with Levy etc in charge If Kane is sold. He stays, end of story along with Sonny.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What if Kane wants to go? I don't want to sell him either though he might be at that age now contemplating moving away after another trophyless season. He's at the age that Walker moved I think. Walker already has 6 trophies and counting.

Ever thought they ain't actually good enough. I have. I long ago realised that the players are just not up to it. Big clear out this summer needed, should have happened last summer, but better late than never.

Now Sandy your telling porkys again, you said that the players are all experienced internationals, this was early this season and that the manager was the problem and had to go, most supporters knew the real issues, but you babbled on with this Sack Pochettino agenda, now it seems that you realise that you could have been wrong

A team plays as a unit, Sissoko missing from midfield means the defence is easily got at, and with no strikers, means the ball comes back much quicker. With both Kane and Son playing opposition have so much more to worry about, so less pressure on the defence. It ain't rocket science.

Kane is our best player but he is another one who doesn’t show up for semi finals and finals. The real real crunch games he fades into obscurity like the rest of them. However, he’s still a top striker and we couldn’t get anyone better.

You will feel more positive next season when Mourinho has brought in three or four 6ft+ anti-footballers and turned you into one-season flat track bullies who will no doubt make top four and possibly have a couple of cup runs - might win the Europa League?

Then you’re in for a real world of despair the following year when he complains that the players he has haven’t got what it takes to make the step up to the next level.

Great article.

The attachment to the team does fade over time as you get older, my attachment was to great players like Gazza, Lineker, Mabbutt, Ginola, King etc etc, players that actually won things for us and got us over the line.

Someone made a great point earlier about Kane, he’s played in massive games for us to get us over the line, he hasn’t done it but yes a great player and it looks like we need better players around him to try to get rid of this bottle job tag.

Problem is how long will he wait? That’s why players have left spurs in the last 12 years, to win things, as much as it hurt why did Sol Campbell leave????

We’re not a winning team, and yes we are heading to be on a par with Everton, starved for success for even longer than us, we are heading in that direction.

Couple of seasons ago we needed a couple of players that would have possible got over the line but we never had that belief to want to push to that final step.

We should always stand behind our team but I can see why fans are frustrated, so close to achieving something now we seem to be going backwards.

One trophy in 21 years.............you can’t be classified as a big team with that haul of trophies sorry..........
