Two more for Garner in U23s win

Missed this one at the start of the week due to birthday revelry, but James Garner scored two more crackers in the U23s 3-2 victory over Stoke on Monday.

His second, featuring a sublime assist from Angel Gomes, was the goal of the game.

Here are the highlights:

The Reds will go level on points with West Ham at the top of the league if they win their game in hand.

Portugal would be a good move for Gomes if he isn’t staying at United. Good development league where he could potentially get games in Europe if he goes to somewhere like Sporting.

It’d suit him well. The Primeira Liga really is soft as shyyte.

People have the same impression of La Liga but I think he’d struggle there to begin with as well. I think it’s premature to think he’d go there and rip it up, there are untold players that have similar skills and frame to Gomes that fail to really impact that league.

It’s fine pointing to players like Messi, Silva, Cazorla, Iniesta and Xavi when talking size but they’re among the greatest players of their genetation/all time. Gomes has yet to prove himself above u23 level ffs.

Also, those guys are short but Gomes is actually only 4 inches off dwarfism and has the frame of a 12 year old girl.

Yep, he needs to get on whatever roids Adama Traore’s been on. He’d be like a cannonball.

I remember my brother, who was big time into the NBA when we were kids, telling me about a basketball player called Mugsy Boges (sp?) who he said was so small that he could get through other players’ legs

To this day, I don’t know if the tale is true. I refuse to look it up, because I want to believe that it is.

Bogues was 5ft 3in and had a 44 inch jump.

Fack me, that’s two thirds his height!

Imagine Shaw being able to jump just under five foot

Facking autocorrect. Shaw can probably jump about five inches

I don’t know if it’s true, but it sounds amazing so I’ll happily believe it as well.
