Mason Greenwood

The lad is third for minutes per goal this season, behind Aguero and Ings. Not bad at all.

Who thinks he should start against City? Maybe Ighalo will be given a chance, but doubt it. I reckon we will again go with pace upfront for the counter. So Martial and James if fit, with a back three.

There's 22 mins between Ings in 2nd and Abraham in 10th. There's double that, almost a whole half of a game between Aguero and 2nd place. Unreal player.

Aguero would’ve had so much more recognition worldwide if he’d played for a respected club.

Yeah shame Aguero went to a souless promo project for a despot regime. He'll never get the appreciation he should have

Haven’t seen many players as good as Greenwood at that age. Hopefully he can fulfil his potential.

Very, very impressive, and very promising indeed for an 18 year old kid in his first season of senior football who also played relatively little football at U23 level.

His record in the EL is even better (one goal every 114 mins), and he has scored in every competition he has played in, also notching in the FA Cup and League Cup.

For those who watched him develop in the junior sides, his emergence is no surprise, but despite his absolute dominance at those levels, I don’t think anyone could have hoped this season would go any better for him.

The most exciting thing is that I don’t think he’s brought everything he’s capable of the senior team yet.

Particularly with set pieces, better movement around him and a freer role.

All of that should come in time. Should.

I was thinking more his ability to beat a man. Once he fills out physically and gets a bit more confident playing against fully grown, top level players we should see more of that. I think that while he’s fast, he lacks the pace and acceleration that Rashford had once he broke onto the scene, so he’s not been able to use it as effectively compared to youth level. I do think he’s a technically more gifted player than Rashford, however, so it shouldn’t hold him back not having that pace.

Yeah, that’s part of what I was getting at when I said a freer role - having the licence to just go and try things, which should come as he builds trust with the coaching staff.

Ok, gotcha.

England have some very promising young talent right now.
