Billy vs Josh

Now this is not an article to wind up Brummie..........It's not. I know we'll never agree on Josh.

I'm not comparing talents as such, but more so, mindsets.

Years after he left his role at Chelsea, the late, great Ray Wilkins was asked on Sky Sports, why Josh had not progressed as expected. Ray's response was he had all the talent required, but implied he went missing when surrounded by the personalities in the squad and suggested that he needed to demand the ball more.

Perhaps, I'm oversimplifying things here, but the early signs are that Billy is the exact opposite? Although you could argue, he's not got a Lampard, etc to compete with/against on the training pitch.

It's early days, but i think as a senior he's going to have a lot longer career at the club than Josh did and more than likely be remembered by most as the better player.

There are a lot of talented young players, but that will only translate to the pitch when they play with personality, take ownership of the game. Ampadu is another one who plays with character, maturity for his age. Consequently, that could be the difference between Christensen staying with us or not. Although it is something not all players develop instantly; RLC for instance, was a slow burner.

One thing I do love watching about Billy is Fabregas’ influence on him. Each have their on separate style on the pitch, but it’s nice to see some Cescy techniques thrown in there as well.

And speaking of Fabregas, Billy's bigget test wil come when he denied time on the ball and space. Fabregas never really coped that well in those situations...let's hope Billy can......although a flat track bully is still very useful
