Grealish position

If we were to sign Grealish where do you see him fitting in the team? I saw him live at OT and he played inside left. Would he dispose martial or would he play more centrally? I think he has a lot of ability, is another much needed leader and would be a great signing. Just not sure how he would best fit the first team. Any thoughts?

Must be popular with his England and United teammates to get any votes.

You didn’t even address the point anyway. Spending most of our transfer budget on Sancho makes more sense than when we did it with Maguire. Unless you’re actually mental enough to think otherwise?

I don’t see any evidence that we spent most of our transfer budget on Maguire.

Most of our transfer spend for the summer, true. But not necessarily budget. I’m not getting hung up on that.

Sancho is a different kettle of fish. We might actually end up blowing our entire summer spend on him. I honestly don’t know why Dortmund wouldn’t end up absolutely rinsing someone for him, and rightly so. They’re idiots if they don’t.

They should be opening discussions with an asking price of EUR200m.

Because I doubt anyone will pay that. Most reputable sources have been suggesting £120m is around about their asking price. If we sell Pogba for a reasonable amount that won’t be using up the entirety of our budget, plus I think what our budget it as what is set aside for this type of signing are different things - Wopdward’s mentioned as such.

Sancho would likely transform our right hand side/attack. Maguire hasn’t transformed anything, which is why one is a risk worth taking while the other is one of the most laughable transfers we’ve ever made, which takes some doing with the competition.

Maguire has absolutely improved our defence.

It’s just that we’ve absolutely offset that improvement by letting Smalling go.

It’s like having a Beemer and a Lada in your garage, and buying yourself a second Beemer.

But then having rid of the first, rather than binning the Lada.

AWB has made a bigger difference. Lindelof looks worse playing alongside Maguire because he’s slow and Maguire is inferior to Smalling. But even if I agree with you that he’s improved it, it’s not been transformed - which is what makes the signing even more embarrassing - whereas Sancho likely would given how many levels he is above our other options for the right wing.

I'm glad to see someone else shares my views on Harry.

Mike, why did you do the doh smiley on my comment earlier, it's not as if what I said wasn't true.

Sancho would make a step change to any side in world football right now, barring maybe five or six.

I’d rate him up there with Salah and Mahrez already. It’s frightening what that lad could do in time.

I would like you to admit that 50% of your beef with Maguire relates to the transfer fee. Go on, do it. Go on And that a chunk of the rest relates to Smalling being moved out on loan, which didn’t have to be the case just because we signed Harry.

I don’t know how many CBs we might have brought in that would have displayed the dependability, dominance and leadership that Maguire has brought already.

I’ve never denied the transfer fee is a big problem I have with the Maguire signing. It’s a massive reason why it’s such a bad signing.

Yeah, the fee was high, absolutely. Too much so, certainly; but it isn’t the first time we’ve been done on that front, and it won’t be close to the last.

I tend to ignore transfer fees now. There’s an issue if they do eat up your entire transfer budget, of course. But I just don’t see the evidence that it did in this case.

I mean, Ed has already told us, and everyone else, that the club is absolutely minted and ready to spend big money on multiple players
