Something will have to give

Was discussing with a lad at work about something having to give this summer - if games continue to be postponed we’re already at looking at reschedules taking place and several European competitions running into May or June, and that’s best case scenario at the moment imo.

Lo and behold moments after the conversation an article pops up on the bbc about possibly delaying the Euros for a year, that in itself raises questions about the amount of games players will be hit with, probable shorter time frame between season end and start next season than usual this year, straight into the Euros, then into 21/22, and they’ll have the oddly timed World Cup to contend with as part of that too. Some people struggle to have much sympathy for multi millionaire athletes being asked to play more games, but if the above happens don’t be surprised to see your favourite players picking up injuries over the next few years.

I have no doubt there will be a few heads at UEFA frantically trying to work out which tournament postponements or cancellations would be the most damaging to revenue. I’m sure we will learn the decision soon. In the meantime if you’re looking for a positive it must be about 5 days since someone talked about var 🤷‍♂️
