600 cases of Corvid-19 in a population of 66m means you have a 1 in 110,000 chance of actually coming into contact with a coronavirus infected person. That is an undeniable fact.

100,000 cases of HIV in the same 66m populace means you have a 1 in 660 chance of coming into contact with a person infected with HIV. This is also an undeniable fact.

Therefore by refusing to adhere to or ignoring medical advice pertaining to the individual infections a person having unprotected seх and/or sharing needles would mean you have a higher chance of contracting HIV than you do of contracting coronavirus from someone coughing on you.

Here's why this line of thinking is redundant:

1) Choosing to be ignorant or being unaware of medical advice are two different things. General knowledge about how to protect oneself against HIV has been hammered into people since the early 1980's.

2) Covid-19 is highly contagious and is most commonly transmitted through the water vapour that comes with exhalation, catching Covid-19 is much more likely, whether you choose to ignore the advice given or not, whether you are simply unaware of it or not.

You can follow all the advice about how to avoid contracting Covid-19 but in all likelihood, unless you self isolate and do not come into contact with other human beings your chances of catching it sky-rocket. Choosing not to sleep with or shares needles with others or to use a condom is much easier than choosing to stay at home and lock yourself away.

If you STILL cannot understand that the contagiousness and transmission properties of the two viruses make them incomparable and this dataset is absolutely idiotic then again, good luck to you.

I missed this comment earlier and now your weirdly determined stance to refute my pure logic makes a lot more sense, the article we disagreed on was giving you something to hold onto, something to remain positive about.

I genuinely wish your wife the best possible fortune in avoiding this virus, no doubt extreme levels of isolation will be required to ensure that and I would imagine that means you being away from her too in case you happened to catch it yourself so that can't be easy either.

Arguing about stuff with strangers on the internet can be hilarious and a lot of fun but it's certainly put into perspective when lives are at stake.
