Let’s please look after each other

If we start behaving like the world is going to end, then it probably will. I’m absolutely gobsmacked by the scenes in this country yesterday - supermarket shelves emptied by people gripped with fear and panic buying essential items needed by the most vulnerable in society. One man yesterday reportedly purchased £300 worth of meat leaving nothing for anyone else

The crazy thing is that there is plenty to go around if we behave responsibly. If people carry on behaving like this - supply chains will fold under the pressure and shortages will begin. That could have an even bigger impact than the virus itself

There’s nothing anyone in the world can do to stop the virus - except going into lockdown for 12 months which is impossible. 80% of us will likely get it at some point until there is a vaccine. The recovery rate is something like 98.8% so most of us will recover.

What we have to do is to try and protect those who are at most risk of not recovering. Social isolation measures are coming to do exactly that. But what good is it going to do if they stay healthy but then can’t get hold of food and essential items because the UK has lost its mind and acted like the apocalypse is here. Elderly people could end up dying not because of the virus - but because they can’t get essential supplies they need.

We can’t stop the pandemic - it will infect much of the world at some point. We can only follow the advice and help to slow the delay. But please let’s look out for each other and not just ourselves

Love you all

Nothing available for next 3 weeks

Where are you based Dublin? If I could arrange a time slot I could possibly go get you some essentials and bring them to you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I live in Cambridge now
Thank you

I'm enough basics and few bit I can stretch to
3 week of reasonable easting
Porridge and a meal
My thinking is in about 3 weeks getting a slot
But its more the bread milk and veg that will run out,

Just had a delivery from a community charity calling to all the sheltered housing
To get a list of those who should go to the camps first 😳
They have dropped a basic bag of stuff and if the world don't go sh2t way, they hope to call every 7/10 days

I now have 2 Lts of long life milk and milk powder for coffee
Bag carrots, 4 apples didn't need the rest of the stuff in the bag,

The biggest worry for me is
Regular supply &
Cash because everything is on line,
I've to go to the Dr's for dressing today so will pop into the Co. Op and see what they can do for me
Like click and collect

That's all well and good in principal, but there are some really selfish people about.

For instance, I always try to do my bit. There's a little old lady that lives opposite, and on Fridays when it's bin collection day, I always take her bin out and take it back once it's been emptied.

It would be nice for once for her to reciprocate, but no, not a chance. She's never done it for me. Not even once. Lazy cow hasn't even taken her milk in for the last 3 weeks.
