Kinnear speaks

CEO speaks about Coronavirus.
Leeds United chief executive Angus Kinnear spoke to LUTV about the ongoing Coronavirus outbreak.

The FA, Premier League, EFL and Barclays FA Women’s Super League and FA Women’s Championship have collectively agreed to postpone the professional game in England last Friday.

Kinnear spoke about the impact at both Elland Road and Thorp Arch and hopes the season will be able to resume at some point in the future when it is safe to do so.

“Our first priority like most businesses is the health and well-being of our staff," said Kinnear.

“We met again this morning to look at what we need to do to keep our players, staff and the broader Leeds United family safe.

“We took measures last week so the training ground if effectively locked down to all but first team activities.

“We have individuals self isolating in line with government regulations should they feel unwell and we’ve also taken steps today to send anybody who is in a high risk or in vulnerable group home.

“From tomorrow we will be moving to a skeleton staff, keeping only the key operational businesses at Elland Road.

“From what we’ve heard over the past few days, there is a ground swell of opinion that the right thing to do is complete the leagues.

“At the moment it is a time for cool heads and patience and I don’t think we need to jump to any immediate solutions.

“I think the broad principle is that you maintain the integrity of the competitions and when the time comes and it is safe to do so, you finish the leagues.

“I think everybody is starting to feel this is the right thing to do and it is certainly our opinion, we think it maintains the integrity of the Football League pyramid and the competitions.

“We’ve heard from Serie A and LaLiga who believe that if Euro 2020 is suspended, it could allow a window for leagues across Europe to complete.

“We would like our supporters to be able to witness the rest of the season with us and by playing the games, it also helps the clubs financially, particularly further down the pyramid."

Yep. Japan apparently still want the Olympics to go ahead. I just don't see how it's possible.

It’s an embarrassment Ellando, what else can I say? 🤷🏻‍♂️

This is the LA press release from a few days ago:

“Los Angeles will be on a form of lockdown it’s never seen in modern times amid the coronavirus outbreak.

“Our decisions will determine the fate of our loved ones, the length of this crisis,” Mayor Eric Garcetti said in announcing the restrictions Sunday. “We need to take these steps to protect our city right now. The work we do now will have an impact on the city’s history. We need to do everything now to stop the spread of this virus.”

The restrictions are to last through March 31.

Here is what you need to know:

Closed
All movie theaters, live performance venues, bowling alleys and arcades

All gyms and fitness centers

All bars and nightclubs that do not serve food

All private social clubs

In addition, all restaurants and retail food facilities will be prohibited from serving food to dine-in customers.

Exceptions
Restaurants, as well as bars and nightclubs that serve food, may continue to prepare and offer food to customers via delivery service or takeout.

Houses of worship are urged to limit large gatherings on their premises and to explore and implement ways to practice their respective faiths while observing “social distancing” practices.

Cafeterias in hospitals, nursing homes or similar facilities will be allowed to continue operations.

Grocery stores, pharmacies and food banks will also be allowed to continue operations.”
