Getting closer to Pool & City next season

Ok, firstly none of know when this season will end and the next one begins but whenever it does I believe a good window with 2-3 top signings can get us a lot closer to those two.

Obviously we are long way from both especially Liverpool but I’d be surprised if the gap between us and Liverpool is as big next season.

Our squad is very young and is improving. The oldest outfield regulars in our side have just turned 27 so you would think everyone has not reached their peak yet. Bruno has just given the place such a huge lift.

Compare that to City they look like they need to replace the majority of the back 4, Silva is leaving, Fernandinho is 35 and Aguero isn’t getting any younger either. On top of that is uncertainty of this European ban.

Liverpool have done fantastically well the last 2 seasons and have become an efficient winning machine but unlike City who have had similar results the previous 2 seasons, they don’t look on a different planet to other sides when you watch them. They just know how to get results which is admirable but not as sustainable imo. I said after the Watford game that it could open the gate for more bad results and was slated for it but so far it looks like I may have been right.

They’ll no doubt start next season as favourites and will be there or thereabouts but I don’t see them being quite the wining machine they have been.

2 more quality players in the first team and we get a lot closer imo.

We would be a lot closer without any more signings because we are a much better team than we were.
I'd like to see two good signings all the same. Right winger and striker.

I do think this is now the first time post Ferguson that Utd have a team committed to the manager
It makes the world of difference

I don’t think we need another striker personally especially if we keep Ighalo. Another top midfielder is the 2nd priority after right sided attacker imo.

I agree.

I think stability is what will make us closer than player per se

Of course I'm not discounting quality players as obviously they will be key.

Can’t really speculate on any of this given we don’t know how, and when, this season will be concluded and the repercussions of these conclusions.

That said, I do think we’ll push and get closer. Though I don’t think we’ll be pushing them very far in the league any time soon.

It’s said most seasons, and usually erroneously, but I can see quite a few of the teams in the top half improving next season - City, Chelsea, United, Arsenal and Spurs in particular, as I cannot see how all of them can be as bad as they have this season.

Chelsea yes. Spurs and Arsenal I’m not so sure. Can they attract the players/are they willing to spend big?

They just need some balance in the squad and to keep a few players fit and they’ll be better than they have been this season. They don’t need to spend big and to attract world class talent to improve on the mess they’ve been this year, especially Spurs.

What suprised me is that bruno looked s good player at sporting and his stats was up there but no one really want to bid for him.

Maybe a no.10 wasn't a priority for other clubs, especially at that price.
