League season ending at 50%

Morning all,

Hope everyone is well.

Read an interview this morning from Rangers coach Michael Beale who suggested if the league's should finish then they should finish at the halfway point, i.e. everyone has played each other twice.

Please don't laugh, we're not done yet.

The problem with that is Rangers had a game in hand against St Johnstone postponed which means they would be 1 game short, therefore 2 points behind Celtic.

Furthermore, Rangers have actually played St Johnstone twice, the scheduled 3rd game between the sides and that game ending in a draw

So if this is the stance Rangers wish to take then lets have it

Anyway, away from football, what did everyone think of the government plans last night? Some of it was actually very good for the Tories but it'll be interesting to see how that then filters down to the smaller guy.

For example, if you rent out your home and the landlord is getting a 3 month mortgage holiday, do you then get a 3 month holiday for rent payments? How is this monitored? What happens to people in council houses?

A lot still to be answered and the confusion around pubs, clubs and restaurants is still poor, they need to be told to close to really make this situation easier to deal with and for all of these places to try and claim on insurance.

I understand this is difficult for the government but so far, it's been a bit of a shambles.

Is there any point in the weatherman delivering any weather just now. Nobody is allowed to leave their home

Also, will our electricity grid cope with the extra demand that's undoubtedly going to be placed upon it with everyone working from home, and potentially lots of people laid off sitting at home and using electricity.

Interesting times.

Will be balanced out by the electricity not being used in workplaces.

People tend to use more electricity when at home as opposed to at work in an office etc.

And demand can spike at random times due to unstructured breaks which makes it harder to meet that demand.

Just thinking of the practical engineering application of supplying extra energy over extended periods of time.

Heating alone will use far more power if it's thousands of individual domestic dwellings, as opposed to office blocks that run more efficient systems.

Fair points but they have suspended utility bills in Italy and everyone is at home. Seems to be working out ok.

Industrial decline would negate supply issues.
Closed doors fitba with sound effects. Hurry up!

The frustration is that BCD 'could' have been being played right now whilst people are still going to their work. If we are to become as rampant as Italy etc. then agreed it is a non-starter going forward.

The sooner this is realised and decisions made the better. There's zero chance Serie A starting in May with officials discussing extending the shutdown beyond April.

More worrying....

In France, the number of confirmed cases grew by more than 16% on Tuesday, reaching 7,730, while the death toll rose to 175, with 7% of the dead aged under 65.
