PS5 news incoming

PlayStation
@PlayStation
Tomorrow at 9am Pacific Time, PS5 lead system architect Mark Cerny will provide a deep dive into PS5’s system architecture, and how it will shape the future of games.

Watch tomorrow at PlayStation Blog: https://blog.us.playstation.com

This is happening today. I think

It was today and anyone wanting to watch it follow the link.

Watching it what comes across is Cerney is the right man at the right time. Having been a developer himself he has a far more rounded understanding of the hurdles faced of a next gen console, not just from a hardware but software perspective.

His approach is wonderfully subtle, thinking outside of the box to bring everything together and not just by throwing teraflops around. PS5 could be a very interesting journey into next gen.

This summary breaks it down to a simpler level, and shows the out of the box thinking that has been utilised in the PS5 model.

This video is a little more heavy, but goes into greater detail of what Sony is bringing to the table.

This gen is really going to offer a next gen experience.

I'll be honest with you Amiga , I've watched these videos and have no idea what this lot are going on about .

As long as it plays well and has kickassss graphics and backwards compatibility with all PS gens I'm happy.

The biggest thing this gen is the SSD, and Cerney has been very smart in focusing his efforts there. It really brings so much more to the table than simply fast storage.

But you hit the nail on the head, ultimately all gamer's want is a great experience, for all the fancy hardware, it is down to the developers to deliver on that, and thankfully Sony have some of the best studios around, and I'm excited to see what they can come up with.

Sadly although backwards compatibility to the PS4 is guaranteed, it is a much harder task adding backwards compatibility for all gens, if they do it will have to be a software solution.

That would be so good if they could run the old gen games .

I wouldn't raise your hopes too high Hitler, PS4 is straightforward. as it is built into hardware.

Whether Sony will spend the time and effort to try to emulate older gens in software, I very much doubt.
