Club Shares

With United shares losing approx 1/3 of their value, is it worth fans buying these at every opportunity?

I realise it's only a small percentage of shares available for purchase and voting rights are pretty much non existent for shareholders beyond the Glazers, but surely fans buying at every opportunity and owning even the smallest percentage would be a step in the right direction?

The only difference it could make is if the bylaws stated that if owned a certain percentage you get a board seat. E.g 20%. In that case a single entity would have to own it so you would have to create a syndicate company or trust and then buy the shares. But even then it's not likely a board seat could get much done.

Would imagine buying football shares will be the last thing on most peoples minds when this is all over

Obviously, because stocks will have levelled back off by then.

Future owners might wish to learn from the Glazers issues with fans and welcome / condone a small percentage of fan ownership.

What do you mean, how so? The shares are worthless regarding their impact on the football club. What is positive about United fans owning them? They can’t do anything with them other than sell them so who actually owns them doesn’t matter.

So of fans owned all the shares that would have zero impact?

If it’s all these shares there will be no impact. Fans would never own all of the shares of the club.

not to derail this thread, but my immediate concern now, is that the Glazers have just acquired the greatest QB in NFL history. That means their focus and priority will not be UTD, for at least a year, maybe 2 at a push.

Need to keep pressing on their necks, cos, as much as i love NFL. My Man Utd team will not become a secondary to a 42 yr old QB. But my fear is that it will...

These shares?

Essentially, if fans owned even a small part it could give them more of a say under different owners in the future.

I give up. It’s like talking to a child.
