Just asking the question/s here.
There seems to be some debate about the word indefinitely being used. Arguments being that the leagues will be concluded as and when things can continue.
But is this workable? Surely there has to be a cut off point?
I can see April as being fair enough but if it goes into June/July/August or longer then surely at some point a decision needs to be made?
I'm thinking things like transfer deadlines etc impacting at some point, but also the lack of football and need for preseasons etc
Indefinitely...

They won't be allowed to play for the "new" club if the current season is still underway anyway.
---
That doesn't make sense. The rules around player registrations are based on calendar dates, not seasons.
Who knows who's been offered what? You certainly don't know any better than me. And for sure player's agents won't have stopped working.
The loan players 'won't need to go back'? Maybe they never wanted to go on loan in the first place! Maybe they want to be back closer to their family..
Your post makes more assumptions than sense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But those dates (transfer window etc) are based on the season being concluded as scheduled. It's completely within reason if the transfer windows etc are revised due to the current situation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Again, it's so much assumption there's no point addressing it. You're right - we need to wait and see.

Players out of contract in June will jump at the chance for a rolling contract. Last thing they want is to have no wages for 3-6 months. Very much doubt Lallana for example is going to say "It's June so i'm not playing".
----------------------------------------------------------------------
What if they could get a permanent contract elsewhere? Why would they risk their future for a few months?
PL wont be as much an issue, but the lower you go down the leagues the bigger the problems will be.
Clubs will have financial issues as well, so many wont be willing to pay out of contract players.
Hearts have already told players they are fee to leave because they have to cut their wages. FC Sion have released 10 players because they wouldn't take pay cuts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be honest, I can't see clubs making firm offers until the situation is clearer. It would be a massive financial gamble, especially for smaller clubs.

I'm just putting things out there. This could last anywhere between a month (unlikely) and 2 years.
And we all have zero football to watch, so might as well explore all possibilities!

The point about transfers is the key here... I imagine that will be pushed back too, but then what happens with players out of contract.

We could just give them all zero-hour contracts

The clubs are obliged to honour the contracts so Sanchez will continue to get his £4 million oer week until it runs out.

Money over health and that's premier league in a nutshell
Season should be void and cancelled as people are being told to stay home and school are closed and yet the premier league is planning to run the league matches from June?
Greedy selfish fekkers!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Obviously the date will be pushed back if it's not safe to play by then.

The dates for transfer window will be adjusted accordingly. We'll make it up as we go along.

why do people think theyll be unfit? might not be match sharp but they wont be unfit, theyll all have home gyms etc and be training and playing matches weeks before the season resumes i'd imagine. As Deeney said take him few weeks to get bk fit and hes a fat

Fit, match-fit, match-sharp.. when it comes to a competitive game of top flight football there's a world of difference between having good cardio and being at your best. I take your point, though, there has to be a preseason of sorts before it all kicks off again.
