Diego Maradona

Just wondering if anyone watched the Diego Maradona film last night on channel 4? Same maker as “Senna" and “Amy" which we’re both award winning documentary films, so was always going to be brilliantly made. Outstanding film focusing mainly on his controversial period, playing for Napoli where he become a god like figure, but also a villain in the later years.

I was to young unfortunately to witness him, but what an outstanding footballer despite his issues. Single handily took a club like Napoli to the big stage winning countless trophies and titles. Was the main reason Argentina won the World Cup in 86. Interested to know anyone of age on here that watched Maradona during that period ? Legend of a player, one of the best of all time.

and the moving of the venue from Liverpool too Lndon the day b4 the game so Portogal had to stop training and travel across the country.
England were, interestingly still in London anyways.....what luck

I saw that game at Wembley!

There's a statue of Eusebio outside Benfica stadium in Lisbon.
Often reminded me of the great statue of Duke Kahanamoku on Waikiki beach.
Except Eusebio has a football and Duke has a surfboard!
They were both "greats" in their times and places.
Eusebio is the greatest player portugal has ever had.... and that includes Ronaldo!
Duke invented surfing and won Olympic swimming golds both sides of WW1.
