World cup style camps to finish PL?

There are reports this morning that the Premier League is looking at completing the season by having teams stay at world cup style camps in the Midlands and London. The remaining 92 matches would be played behind closed doors at local stadiums over the summer months, with every game being televised in a mega TV event.

I like the idea. However, I do question whether it will be feasible to have the squad and staff all in the same hotel. What are we talking? 50 people? Plus the workers required to operate the hotel. Then you have the television team and camera men. Plus there would have to be some stadium staff. The numbers soon start to add up.

I am not sure that it can be done, but it would certainly offer some much needed entertainment for the people.

Discussion? Dude if it gets to the end of June there's just no way for clubs to play up to 20 games then get next season done by June.

All these ideas are just getting worse and worse, behind close doors is not going to happen. Your still going to need medical staff and these grounds. What happens if a player breaks his leg. All it takes is for one player to catch this virus and it all stops again, Just had a quick look at the tables so apart from Liverpool and could say Bolton going down, The other 90 league team and not guarantee anything. What do we do if Spain and Italy cancel their leagues? We just need to set a date say end of June and if can’t complete by then. Just null and void the season, Teams in Europe are the same as season before and prize money is split between the teams.

I think June 30th will be when the Premier League season will either have to make the decision to either end or begin to finish the final set of games over July / August.

Start the new season in October, remove all Cup games to shorten the season as much as possible.

I assume European competitions will push to ensure they happen due to the financial dependency on it. Question at that time would be, are countries in a position to welcome others in.

This clearly isn't going to happen, and also what about the other leagues?

I hope these aren't genuine ideas from the PL desperate to get the season finished when there are far more pressing issues. It's questionable whether the 20/21 season will even happen.

How convenient then.

Luckily the league is discussing playing games all the way through to July while you think they will cancel it in June. Yeah, that's gonna happen.

But that's already what they're trying to work around. That goes without saying. I thought there was an additional issue that needed to be looked at but if "more pressing issues" refers to covid then that's nonsense. Covid is the reason this is happening in the first place. Its the only issue

No, he’s talking about how in the timeframe they’re talking about - June/July, the more pressing issues are dealing with the pandemic.

Oh OK, of course that's true. Human life is the top priority.

I watched a table tennis match yesterday. It was nice. Any sport or business that can get going should do so if a degree of safety can be achieved. It doesn't mean the situation is being ignored. Nothing wrong with exploring the possibility so there's no need for people to get preachy about it.
