I genuinely am shocked by Liverpool FC

Can't believe the club have decided to take the 80% pay relief from the government to help those affected by the virus; I know the club will make the other 20% up but this is poor...extremely poor and I don't give a fk about other clubs; Liverpool are a proper working class club and the money we have as a business your telling me they could all get some dosh and take care of their own.

Fkn embarrassing and a joke from the club; to me its absolutely disgusting. I'm sorry but "you will never walk alone"...really?? Fkn own goal by the club
..pathetic imo...absolutely pathetic.

Amazed by how many people i have seen mention 'free money'. Some truly think the government are just handing out money with no intention of getting it back
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yeah we will all pay it back by hyper inflation fine, but then you are stupid not to have taken it

Fair play for whoever has the balls for a cheeky Mbappe bid in a couple months

“ they have players they could shift to save enough money in wages just by getting rid of a couple.”

Yeah because there’s going to be a lot of buying and selling players in the current climate

The club shouldn’t be taking any money and players huge salaries should be the first to be cut to pay for none playing staff's wages.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They don’t need to take a fee for a player. Exec’s could also take a cut. There are many ways they could pay the staff. I bet the cash reserves (that they are trying to protect) could easily cover it too.

Asking for a handout is shameful.

Its free money from the governement why wouldnt you take it
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Because it's less than a million to the club and billionaire owners.
It would have been better spent on getting out of this crisis.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
1 mil a month maybe.

no matter how you calculate it its 5mil or something.

Its simply not right to stick your hands into the public purse when you don't need to.
-----
So if it is eventually proven to be needed will you shut up?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

you could at least think before speaking.

If Liverpool can pay 300 odd million in contracts and not cut them yet can use government money to pay <5million in non contractual wages over the next while something doesn't add up.

The easiest place to start is clearly to just apply for government cash.

The BEST place to start is the 90% of the wage bill

4 clubs have so far gone after the easy way first. the viability of clubs is in question if this drags on for months without players coughing up.

same thing was realised quickly in spain and italy and players got in line.

At this point the UK is yet to hit the peaks of the deaths but it seems that just perhaps italy and spain are past the peak daily tally but have many days more of shocking death tolls to come.

If I were a player I would not want to look back in 2 or 3 years and think. My god I seriously sat there on 100k per week with 5 or 10 mil already in the bank while all that happened? History will not be kind imo.

Whining about it won't help. yes you are an easy target but that doesn't mean that the clubs won't go under.

It’s not needed. Liverpool have cash reserves, they have players they could shift to save enough money in wages just by getting rid of a couple. And when next season does start they will get a massive amount of tv money.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
A some point the stupidity has to stop.

How much are Liverpool cash reserves?

You suggest selling a player. Is the transfer window open? I've never heard of a more stupid suggestion. How would it work at this time?

People like you disgust me. Using a catastrophe to point score and hoping that your rival is weakened so your own club can prosper. Abhorrent.

OK genius. Perhaps we should have sold the club to you instead of FSG. You seem to know more than John Henry which is why you are a billionaire and John Henry is posting on JA606.
