Getting messy

I said that whilst Prem footballer should take a cut, telling them publicly to take a cut is not going to get them on side and now the cracks are growing as PFA whining that they are mindful that if they take a cut it hurts tax revenues blah blah blah.

"England defender Danny Rose - on loan at Newcastle from Tottenham - said that Premier League players were keen to give up a portion of their wages to help good causes, but felt their "backs are against the wall" regarding the pressure they had faced to accept cuts."

"The Premier League had hoped Saturday's conference call would convince the players of the need to accept the cut in pay that many politicians and members of the public have been calling for.

It seems that hope has proved naive however, and with clear tensions between the two sides, negotiations are now set to extend into next week."

Then don't take a cut, pay your tax and donate he money back to the club, but to squabbling over this now as people lose lives, jobs and for some, everything they've worked for, its really shameful, a real lack of situational awareness..

Well run club like Burnley saying it will go to the wall in August.

As discussed as well, the TV broadcasters want their product of their money back, its no good saying well its unprecedented times, the broadcasters get squeezed for more and more money, football shows them no loyalty, selling out to all sorts these days and so if TV wants what's in the contract, football should have done a better job protecting itself with the contracts for this situation as AELTC did for Wimbledon.

Meanwhile, the appetite for abandonment nudges closer:

I've said this before but this was a ploy by Hancock to divert attention from the government's own incompetence in dealing with this crisis and their lack of help and support the NHS are getting.

And it seems I am right considering how this is all going. PL players are easy targets as they are at front and centre unlike many other sports and rich elites who are not in the spotlight at all.

Hancock has played a blinder with this.

This full lockdown chat with exercise banned is annoying me deeply. We could have halved the load on out NHS by locking down 4 days earlier. It would have likely been more than halved had we locked down the weekend of Cheltenham. Don't dare blame the minority of idiots for the subsequent need for a full lockdown.

wow, an amazingly political thread - agree with most of it. Now is the time for a proper reckoning.

I've said this before that this germ is a 'force majeure' to deflect from the banks going illiquid last September.
Perfect timing.

That isn't the game.
The game is for the rich to become wealthier at the continued expense of those who pay for it, that'll be 'us'.
All the while that most of 'us' don't see it then the game continues.
If politics truly mattered then we'd see and end to this 'game' but we haven't, the 'game' continues.
Those here who are continually obsessed with politics and believe that it matters are deluded.
