News just coming out that Jimmy Greaves is in hospital for an unspecified problem.

Hope it is not Covid-19.

Sandy and Co, who would you compare Jimmy greaves to these days ?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Very hard really Don, Greavsie was a complete one off. Kane is similar to Jimmy is that he very rarely misses given a chance on goal. Some of Greaves goals when he were at his absolute peak for Chelsea and Spurs were similar to some of the Messi goals, where he goes past several players.

Sweet. His goal scoring record is phenomenal. I agree with Kane, you would be you’re mortgage on Harry scoring a one on one. Such a fantastic finisher our Harry.

Get well soon Greavsie

Probably Messi................very instinctive, quick burst of pace and little or no back lift when shooting.

Scored with either foot and got a few with his head too.

One of the greatest ever goal scorers in the World & certainly the best ever at Spurs and in British football.

My grandad used to talk of Greavsie a lot. Said could literally score when ever he was put through on goal.

Genius / Sandy. Another 2 players my grandad used to love talking about were Martin Chivers and Danny Blanchflower. You both rated them?

Yes mate, I met both of those players. Martin used to run the Brookmans Park Hotel (pub) in Hertfordshire, I had a mate who owned a deli shop next door to the pub, so we would often pop in. He was a very underrated striker for Spurs.

Danny used to live not to far away from me in Southgate, I met him at a seminar in the early 60s, when I was about 14, and he was a real gentleman. Sadly he died in his 60s.

One of the lads I grew up with in the 70's was a Spurs fan (unusual in Derbyshire).

He got the moniker "Chivers" and is still known by the same name 50 years later, so much so I have to think what is actual name is!
