Voting day - Live

Morning troops

It's been some time since we've had a meaningful live thread but today could be a historic day as all 42 clubs of the SPFL vote on proposals set out by the SPFL.

The resolutions are pretty simple and after 5pm today we will know whether over 75% of clubs in Scotland want to call the seasons as is and declare champions and relegation places.

The rumour is it hangs in the balance by a few votes.

There will also be proposals put forward this morning by Rangers who wish for prize money to be distributed now as interest free loans to all member clubs and leave the season open to finish when possible.

The problem we have with that scenario is the SPFL, on the advice of the medical and scientific experts in Scotland, do not believe it is possible for the season to be completed by the end of August which is when UEFA will set their deadline.

My thoughts are simple, i want to win it on the park, we're 5 wins away at most from doing just that and it would be a shame for us not to get to celebrate with the players on the park and in the stands.

However, should that not be possible then we should rightly be declared as champions, we have played over 75% of the league season and as per the rules of the league, the season can be declared complete should it need to do so. We have been the best team in the country by a mile and were rampant towards 9 in a row.

Whatever happens, it will be a season tinged with sadness as to what happened but it will be another title on the way to 10 and no one can take that away from us

Some chat they are trying to get Dundee to change their vote - they voted ‘no’ but the SPFL says they didn’t receive the vote.

Dangling league reconstruction as an incentive for them to change their vote.

If that’s true - it’s a disgrace
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Why?

Surely it’s trying to lessen the impact across the board no?

This thing needs a quick resolution especially for the lower divisions so time to plan thoroughly wasn’t a luxury they had.

If Dundee are insured and have nothing to worry about then good luck to them. The longer this is left in limbo however the greater the economic impact.

As for the prize money. I don’t think it refers to tv money which is paid separately by tv companies. That money probably doesn’t even figure much for lower clubs in any event.

See below from last year which is the same formula for this year

Just think the releasing of the vote count, etc before its finished is completely amateur and bordering on coercion.

Meant to be a professional governing body and it’s being run like a eurovision vote.

What foresight.

Now watch the insurers wriggle out.

Had the experience years ago of going through an insurance claim when one of our factories burned down. Straightforward business interruption you’d think

Think again

Hence my comment that they are rightly treading very carefully and hoped there would be a decision without them having to vote. No win. My source is 3rd hand so cannot count on the veracity.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

The reports are saying they did vote?

Scratch that - was it journos saying they did vote because they released a statement criticising the proposal?

Well there was plenty people saying that on social media and defamatory stuff about Lawwell, Doncaster, McKenzie, Nelms and almost everyone else on 'the list' and beyond.

Lots of accusations (and let’s be honest, it’s mainly from rangers fans and their bloggers) about what’s going on in the background, and somehow Lawwell is masterminding it.

The ones with most to lose are the clubs that need the cash or else they might go under. I can see there being discussions between the SPFL board and Dundee over what the situation could be, but I seriously doubt Lawwell will be involved purely because he wants the title awarded just now.

I get the need for a bogeyman and Lawwell fits the bill for some, but I really don’t think this is a Celtic v rangers situation, and fans should maybe start to think beyond that.

Dundee can’t be thinking along OF lines. Surely to God. It’s about them and fair enough.

I just don’t get what they want that could be given in all honesty.

No, I don’t think they are thinking along those lines. I think it’s others suggesting that they are.
