Have you missed Spurs?

Over a month without football now and I have to say I am still very much dreading having to watch Spurs again. I actually stopped watching the last few games pre Covid and have never felt so low and disconnected about Spurs. Levy furloughing staff and Jose disregarding lockdown have just added to my apathy.

I do miss football in general, but what I really miss is having a team, manager and club I believed in and respected from top to bottom. It's going to be a long time before that happens again.

I'm far more upset the cricket season is going to be ruined.

I miss Spurs more under Poch. Even when we were losing under him at the start of this season I always felt things would get back on track eventually. Don't feel that with Jose.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not me mate, I haven’t enjoyed watching Spurs for over a year now and that includes mostly Pochettino. Obviously the 2 champions league games were fantastic, but the final itself was a typical Spurs bottle job disappointment
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That dodgey penalty was just typical of how the night would go , still livid about Moura being dropped for that game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

100% mate. Was with all my family in the Spurs stadium. Amazing weather and fantastic day out it was, then Spurs happened. That Sissoko penalty in 2 minutes sums up Spurs completely for me. Biggest game in our history and we concede a penalty in 2 f*** minutes. We are such f*** bottlers, we really are.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It wasn`t a penalty though, not as long as I have a hole in my aris was that a penalty. Zero chance that penalty is given down the other end of the pitch to Spurs in the same game. Predictably the referee could not wait to give it to Pool, which changed the entire dynamic of the game, Poch`s game plan had to be changed after 1 minute thanks to a biased referee. So banging the `Spurs bottled it` drum is simply nonsense.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It was a penalty, and what makes you think Liverpool wouldn't have played differently if it wasn't given.
One thing I'll give you, it ruined the game.

You can dress it up all you like Billy mate, Spurs are the biggest bunch of bottlers ever. You have other big bottlers in the lower leagues like Leeds and Sunderland, but there’s no doubt about it, Spurs bottle the big occasions when it truly matters, hence our horrendous trophy history in recent years. Liverpool players very average that day, but are crowned the European champions. Why ? Because Liverpool know how to win the big trophies and win finals. Spurs on the other hand wouldn’t know what winning was like if it come up and smacked them in the a**

Well that is open for debate, but penalty or no penalty, there is zero chance a penalty would have been given if that was Sissoko kicking the ball at Mane in the Pool penalty area. Obviously both teams would have played differently in Pool were not given a goal start.

I've missed Spurs yes. The real one, not the fake version we've had this season.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
How are you different to any other year in fairness
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You might be wumming, but to answer this it's clearly been our worst season for over a decade. So no, it's not the same as any other year.

Never used to be Don, I think the first dozen semi-finals, I saw Spurs play in various competitions, they only actually lost one. Also their cup final record I saw Spurs win six straight finals, and only lost two of the first 10 I saw.

The bottling thing has basically only come since the inception of the Prem.

Don, also it used to be a given if Spurs were in a semi-final, they were guaranteed to reach the final.

Exactly mate, which is my era of Spurs, so I only know Spurs as a bottling club. I never watched Spurs pre 1991, so I missed the European win in the 80s etc. That was our last truly successful era. Spurs are just not successful anymore.

Have not missed football at all really. Although Spurs are in my blood, and I love going to WHL. But the general hype and nonsense about the modern game I have not missed one iota.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I think that's the general conclusion from a lot of people.

Must admit I would probably say I now prefer cricket to football. The modern game is really grinding people down.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
God yes, I fully committed to cricket>football a few years back

So we saying football only started when the PL started ? sort of thing my daughter would say when telling me pop records are not copied and today's stars, of course wrote the songs and don't copy from someone she never heard of.

I too remember the days when Spurs did not loose finals. Believe it or not Spurs were once the record FA Cup winners ( after win in 1991) and to that point had won 9 out of 9 finals played. The loss ( if you care to look it up ) was a freak loss in 1987 to Coventry City, when Spurs were very short priced favorites. So, yeah Spur have NOT always been bottlers, just in the last couple of decades. Football has been played competitively since the late 1800's, not since 1992/3.

No, but you measure a clubs success in recent years and in the last 20 years + , Spurs have been a club that doesn’t win trophies, it’s as simple as that. We are a club that constantly gets to the later stages of a cup competition or running a league title close, then go on and lose it, hence why the term bottlers crept in for Spurs. You can’t deny it mate just because we were successful in the 60s and relatively successful in the 70s/80s. Right now, Spurs are not a successful club.
