Government Ministers seem to

all be following the same line, we are following the Scientic Advice, is always the stock answer when questioned. Thus deflecting any real blame from themselves. It is pretty clear where this is all going, when the blame game really ramps up when this is all over, it will all be the Scientists Fault 100 per cent.

How do you rate these five ministers in slipperyness and telling porkies. I have left the PM out, as we know he is chief porky teller.

1 Dominic Raab
2 Priti Patel
3 Michael Gove
4 Matt Hancock
5 Gavin Williamson (Private Pike)

Personally I don`t think they come any more slippery than Gove, he comes over as the biggest smarmball of them all. Just my personal opinion though, others may differ.

Just to even it up, and not make it to political, Labour has some slippery characters of its own. Andy Burnham, John Ashworth spring to mind.

Frankly one would expect Government Ministers to follow the scientists advice. What else could they do? Unless of course they are Donald J Trump in which case they would say whatever they deem to be in their own best interests, and public be damned.
Your ministers are not scientists and at least they seem to be smart enough to know that!

I imagine our government only listen to the scientists that give the answers they want to hear.

Like when people quote scientists who don't believe in man-made/driven climate change.

They may be only 0.01% of the science community but technically they're still scientists and they're still able to advise a government if that government wants them to...

Scientists will provide science.
You are describing charlatans, not scientists.
I hope you know the difference..... and your government does too.
Otherwise you are in big trouble!

In the case of climate change almost certainly. In the case of Covid-19 it's not so clear cut, there's nowhere near enough data however that's why serious caution is what most would advise for now. Our government decided against that (our PM literally shook hands with the infected) then when it got bad they pulled a U-turn.

Now I can guarantee you no credible scientist would have advised that doing what Johnson did was a good idea as we simply don't know enough about the virus.

Not all scientists are giving the same advice. Some are giving the absolute opposite, so listen yes, but don't take everything they say as gospel. They themselves say they don't know that much about this new virus.

Generally that is the case when the scientific underpinnings are not definitive.
And especially where statistics are involved.
However, certain facts are scientifically supported.
And those are the facts you want to stick with.
Like ...human-to-human transmission.
Like respiratory infection.
Like possible very bad outcomes.
On the subject of outcomes, there's a lot that remains unknown....like this virus can infect a lot more than just your lungs.
If you survive, you might do so with heart problems and brain problems.

'Britain only made a formal request to Turkey over a consignment of personal protective equipment on Sunday - the day after a cabinet minister announced the "very significant additional shipment" was already heading to the UK, Turkish sources have told Sky News.'

Robert Jenrick... yet another Tory liar, it seems.

I’d be surprised (other than the absolute head bangers) many of his supporters would seek to defend his record as a politician, or as a journalist. I suspect he was seen as the ‘least worst’ option for a lot of people.

I recall a piece from Rory Stewart in which he was absolutely livid with Johnson when he was foreign secretary after making a series of blunders.

Stewart confronted Johnson in his office, and said he left about 10mins later wondering what on earth just happened.

In that Johnson’s jovial persona, and reassuring character papered over all the cracks, and downplayed all of Stewart’s grievances without actually addressing any of the issues he raised.

I suspect this is a tactic he has used throughout his career. And whilst it has seen him climb the political ladder, in times of national crisis (just like Brexit and Covid19) it’s been grossly exposed.
