Future Enland team 2026

H A L L O

So just been discussing some youth players and it got me thinking about Ingurland and 2028 when hopefully there will be a tournament.

Just a bit of fun but what do you think the England team will be? Always a risk with predicting youth players that they go off the rails and dont fulfill their potential but going on what we do know this is mine. Ive not seen loads of some of these lads so happy for debate on them.

Henderson (UTD) - seems to be developing well and Pickford is pure banter

James (CHE) - this kid has everything. Strong, quick, excellent delivery

Gomez (LIV) - Great skill set, good on the deck, major injuries cleared up

Tananga (TOT) - Beast from the little I've seen.

Williams (UTD) - Not seen loads but I love his attitude. Dirt and has quality going forward. Looks to have been coached well and Shaw doesnt do enough although has looked good in a three weirdly. If back four Im going Williams despite being right footed.

Alexander-Arnold (LIV) - entire youth career in midfield, always wanted to play there and has the talent to do so. Can do everything.

Foden (MNC) - love this kid. Insane technical ability and has goals and assists in him.

Mount (CHE) - good on and off the ball, breaks the lines and a good decision maker

CHO (CHE) - Through circumstance has managed to blag an insane contract so needs to keep his head on his shoulders but can go both ways, cross with either foot, beat a man and is tactically felxible.

Sancho (DOR) - nuff said

Greenwood (MNU) - scores different types of goals, takes his shots early, has that knack of finding space. Generational talent? Maybe.

Honourable mention for Abraham who loses out to Greenwood in my prediction.

What's yours? Any obvious misses I've made? Williams and Rashford on the left likely wouldnt work due to both cutting in for example. Could play CHO left and bring in Sterling on the right.

It's not physically the biggest team but it oozes tekkers.

True, only Lampard could still do that at 33.

Lampard even got the Chelsea manager’s job via a wicked deflection off Derby County.

The ones I’d say were nailed on to be in/around the team:

Henderson
TAA
Wan-Bissaka
Gomez
Foden
Sancho
Rashford
Greenwood

I suspect most/all of the other names mentioned will fall by the wayside and be displaced by the best of the 14/15/16 year olds in the academies.

Ben White and Kalvin Phillips will be starting in 2026.

Henderson will be 36 by then, boldish

Frightening amount of talent coming through. And whilst there are never any guarantees of the heights they'll hit, the likes of TAA and Sancho are already in the "world class" bracket imo. If there's one weakness, I suppose it's at centre back, where outside of Gomez there isn't a really outstanding one in the current team or coming through. But the likes of Stones and Maguire are still very capable centre halfs, so it's not an emergency as much as just an area for possible improvement.

What I find most disturbing about this is that I'm a Northern Ireland fan and I'm actually quite excited about what England can achieve in the next three or four tournaments!
