Platoon is on my list, love that film. Forrest Gump too. Indiana Jones.

Agreed on Platoon, you can tell it’s directed by someone who was there, very raw and desperate movie, also the music is iconic. Loved the pot smoking to tracks of my tears....

Some of my favourite parts. The massacre of the village is based on a real incident that happened in the war My lai massacre which was much, much worse than what happened in the film. A real shameful and shocking episode in us army history.

I quite like the deliberate drug of choice type interplay between the angry drinkers and the more philosophical pot heads.

Between 347 and 570 unarmed Vietnamese killed by us soldiers at my lai, and not one person held accountable by the us army.... can see why stone chose to use the basis in his film.

A very under rated Vietnam movie is Michael J Fox in Casualties of war. It’s about the rape and kidnapping of a local Vietnamese village girl by group of soldiers. True story. Excellent movie but harrowing.
