Fifa chief medical officer: Void season

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52462233

Following on from France and Holland voiding seasons, and Uefa saying 25 May deadline, Fifa chief medico is saying end the season now and get ready for 20/21

Realistic and let doctors and nurses save lives rather than facilitate football

I dont see why there should be a need to start the season in August

There should be a resolution that sees this season completed before a new season can start, as there is more to be resolved now than there is at the start of a new season.

What's the point in starting a new season. We may.not see fans in stadiums for 12 months
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The rush to void the season is extremely stupid. This season can be voided at any time. It can even be clvoided the week before next season starts. Why do it now?

Because of medical advise? Advise which also warns that this won't go away until next year and there might be a second round. We could prepare hard for next season, sign all the agreements, enter all the contracts and put obligations on ourselves only to be forced to call off the season after a month or two.

That's two seasons canceled instead of one, and who knows how much the TV companies would be owed in rebates by the time that happens.

A full season is a huge responsibility. Thousands of companies and entities involved in deals. They won't want to bind themselves to such an uncertain project. First they'll want to see if football can be played and whether it will be worth it.

There is a noose around your neck (this season) and you know what? Let's just add a second noose (next season) around that neck and make both a little tighter.

People think Sky and BT will forgive the rebates and then start paying for next season as well? and wait to see if it happens? How many billions do you think they're willing to lose here?

You're dreaming. Its best to wait and make the decision at the optimum time.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
They will make a decision at the optimum time, which is fast approaching, they have to be seen to be doing all they can to complete this season, but anybody with half a brain cell can see that there is almost a zero chance of that happening.

There will have to be a clean break, where they can then focus on how they are going to facilitate a 20/21 season (however that may be), there is no point wasting time and effort waiting for the inevitable to happen to a season that is already dead, when you can put all your effort into safe guarding the next season and clubs futures along with it.

The whole of next season may have to be played behind closed doors, if that is possible at least the rules for every team will have been the same from day one and not changed half way through, which maintains the integrity of the competition.

The TV companies will have to work together with the leagues around Europe, it will be in their interests to come to arrangements that suit everybody moving forward.

There should be a uniform cancelling or voiding across Europe with a view to somehow starting a fresh season in September or October. European competitions should be cancelled for next season which will allow time for a late start to a new season and for it to be finished in time for the Euro`s.

Obviously cash is king, but the money men will have to wind their necks in for the good of mankind.

The behind closed doors idiocy that some think is sensible, will simply not work for many reasons. Idiots will congregate outside stadiums or wherever the games are played, and games shown on TV will see groups of people converging on the same house with a crate of beer to watch the match.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
😅😅😅
Really scraping the barrel now.

Police will stop fans congregating, as we are in a lock down. Also, any REAL fan of the game isn't going to risk exposure outside the stadium after months of no football!!! They are going to be inside watching the bleeding game lol

As for the beer comment....omg 😅 so football is different to watching Netflix or a movie eh? Jesus wept...

The chief officer has made a general recommendation but every country needs to be assessed on a case by case basis.

No fans til 2021 means for football to survive we need a contigency. Is it ideal? No. Will it save fans lifes and club from going under? Yes.

Every person saying start next season seems obilious to the fact covid won't just go away. It'll be exactly the same then. Saying no behind doors games means no football for next season also.

Long as the rules are the same for everyone it's fair.

What you won't accept is that failing to finish this season will have serious repercussions on future seasons. It would indicate that next season might not happen at all. A business environment relies on certainty and predictability and that will go out the window for next and future seasons.

Covid is still here and will be for a while so what guarantees do you have over playing and finishing next season if you can't finish this one? You have none. If there's 0% chance of finishing this season behind closed doors then there's only like 3% chance the next season will happen, even behind closed doors.

In order for next season to happen, football must be shown to be playable behind closed doors. Without that then you can forget next season. Do you understand that? Unless they shorten next season (which you've said cannot be fair as its a change of rules).

Nothing about covid will change until we have a vaccine. The risk will always be there. The risk will not magically go away for next season. The same way we will play BCD is the same way we will play BCD in future. The isolation, testing and everything that will be used next month is the same that will be used in future. There won't be some easing of conditions that will allow games BCD.

You could be further entangling yourself with a second unfinished season whereas there's no pressure to decide right this minute.

If this season can be finished then you have some confidence across the board and everyone is all in for next season.

As I've explained, doubts over the ability to carry out a season will grow exponentially if this season is not finished.

That would be an unnecessary waste of vital emergency service time, policing crowds of people when there is no need to, why even bother taking the risk.

People don`t congregate around each others houses in numbers to watch Netflix or a movie ffs, but they would to watch a game of football.

Behind closed doors in September or October would be far more likely to be manageable than in June, hopefully by then things have improved a lot for the better. If they start planning now, they have 5 months to come up with a viable solution to start a new season.

Next season will happen behind closed doors and people will still need to be policed whether it now or next year, policing will be needed regardless.

Nothing will change so that the need for policing is eliminated.

IFK it's doable in one month there's no need to wait 5 months. Absolutely no valid reason.
