Removing Relegation

It's understandable that if the teams have to play in neutral grounds then some of those fighting to stay in the league could be significantly prejudiced and this could cost them their EPL status.

However, if you take this through the divisions, effectively there would be no promotion and no relegation. That would render every game through the leagues below the EPL to be utterly meaningless

When one looks at the issue of restarting football as a whole, what is the point in doing so if so much of it (at least 75% of matches) are pointless.

How does this weigh against the risks or restarting?

They can't be relegating clubs on a tactical vote like that ffs

Eh? They can. Whether it will come to that is the question.

They should vote on who wins the title as well.

Imagine the money being thrown around for that. Would laugh my bollockles off if they did that and City bought the league. Would be my fave champions ever.

If it comes to that then I think they will.

How do you think that vote would go DJ? Assuming it happened?

Arsenal will win the league because everybody loves us.

Spurs, Liverpool and United will be relegated as they are all caaaaants.

This isn't the Marvel cinematic universe. I'm talking about in real life, what would happen?

The EPL would not void the season and relegate the bottom 3. That would see the biggest legal challenge, from all 3, and likely delay the start of next season further. Its also an approach that would probably fail and Appeals would be successful.

IMO, out of all the possible choices, it would lead to the smallest, weakest legal challenge, there would be no guarantee of success. Also, these are the only teams that can access parachute payments.

Any kind of legal challenge would have the possible effect of delaying the season of course but I don't think this one would, because any damage caused on the relegated teams would be compensated monetarily, which can happen at any time.

Voiding the season so that these clubs don't get relegated would present financial challenges for all the other clubs and loss of European places. I feel like that's a major turning point.

The way I see it, it would be the three clubs on one side vs the PL, the EFL(who want promotion), all the clubs that would have otherwise been in a relegation dogfight, all the champions and promoted clubs on the other side.

This has already happened in other countries. In France, Amiens are writing letters and "demanding justice" but no legal action as yet. The league voted to relegate them. Null and void has not even entered the vocabulary anywhere.

In addition to this, with UEFA guidelines for sporting merit being applied for top 4, surely the same should apply throughout the league.

At least with this ending the only issue will be relegation/promotion. Any other option will see more than the three clubs taking legal action and the matters to be determined by the court will increase exponentially to include European placings and the titles/championships.

There is no fair solution but some solutions are fairer than others. Personally, I would expand the league for one season if possible like they did in Argentina.
