I am considering purchasing an Apple Mac and just wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations on the Apple Mac model i should purchase.
Just a small Apple Mac. Don't worry about price, just want a reliable one where I can do a bit of work on it and perhaps able to take installing Football Manager without massively slowing it down.
Not bought an Apple Mac before so don't know which one is the best one.

For apple money you could get a gaming pc/laptop that would utterly piiiisss all over the Mac in terms of performance.

Yeah, and if they spent ages learning how to build one they could save even more money.
Perhaps Kami likes MacOS, or the design language. Maybe they own Apple everything already, and have resigned themselves to that walled garden.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh yeah, for a desktop I’d totally build it myself. Would really fly if specced right.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Don't get me wrong, I'd never buy a pre-built unless it was somehow cheaper than doing it myself (it wouldn't be).
But you can't expect that from everybody. There's a lot to be said for a beautifully made, simple laptop that goes all day, has a stunning screen/speakers whilst still weighing next to nothing.
If, for example, Kami wants a laptop, I'd say go for either the air or the pro (the standard one is meaningless atm). If he's willing to look a bit farther than that, he should consider the iPad Pro. It's also worth looking at Huawei's Matebook X, Microsoft Surface 3 and HP Spectre x360. Those are all over-designed laptops that provide that in-the-hand feeling that Apple products do, whilst providing a bit more for the buck.
The HP Spectre x360 does the most for the money, but some people want Apple.

Would you say an Ipad Pro is a better option then?

Well originally i was going to replace my old iPad (which is 7/8 years old now) with a new one.
One of my relatives suggested I get a Macbook instead as I mostly use my phone these days out and about. I thought well my laptop will need upgrading too soon tbh as its getting slow.
I am with Apple for everything else so thought it makes sense and tbh Apple has been quite good to me. My windows laptops i have had problems with.
Generally i wouldnt want to pay Macbook Pro prices so I am looking at the Air. Otherwise i am considering what storage and memory size i should get.
So unless people think an iPad would be better or if they have any advice on laptop issues tbh
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The newer iPad Pros really blur the line between a laptop and a tablet and are extraordinarily capable machines if you consider yourself a creative.
Definitely go for the Air then. The standard MacBook is not enough of anything. I'd go for the i5 at 1300, though you may feel the need to spring for the i7 at 1500.
Do consider some of the competition, though. Some of the ultrabooks on the market do what Apple do better and for less money. HP, in particular, has good offerings in that category.

The main problem with the iPad Pro is that the keyboard is a big expense and it never will be that machine you can just plonk on your lap and work with. If you have a job that uses graphical design, it's a powerful tool. If you have a Microsoft Office job, I'd give it a miss. You want a really well built keyboard on a machine that isn't top heavy.

If you're stuck between iPad or Macbook try watching this recent youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x_R-qzjZrKQ
Marques has done a bunch of videos on the new iPads of late.

I have been reading about the iPad Pro and it seems the only difference between the 12.9 and the 11 is the size and price.
So I cant see why its worth buying a 12.9 inch over an 11 inch tbh

Kamrag, get yourself Huawei laptop...cheap and the best.
But, if you can hold on to your eagerness"jizzzz" then go for a gaming Lenovo laptop as they take at least 3 weeks to get delivered.
Thank me later..

Could get an Alienware or high end hp laptop for the sane price as an Mac or iPad Pro, which would obliterate then I’m performance surely the minor convenience of having all apple is offset by the performance of these bits of kit? Plus most apps and peripherals will work..which won’t be as good in apple land.
I have seen some good use of iPads on music production, but only as a controller not the workhorse, too underpowered for that.
