Noticed that the topic of shorter halves has re-surfaced. In the past this topic has been addressed in a different way. Some have studied how much ACTUAL playing time occurs in games and have come to the conclusion that when NON-PLAYING time such as with time wasting throw-ins, goal kicks, referees setting-up for free kicks or being forced to "referee" rugby style scrimmages on corner kicks, player substitutions etc. etc.. are taken into account the ACTUAL playing time in each half is actually closer to 30mins than 45 mins?
One solution would be to make the games 60 mins. (two 30min. halves) and have the referee's game watch stopped when the ball is not "in play".
I believe that this is done in American Football.
Would football fans be open to the "clock" being stopped when the ball is not in play? Would the players be in support of this?

Well the shorter halves is being proposed for when football resumes which i think is joke.
Next proposal will be virtual football games being simulated.

Referees giving out yellows for time wasting more readily and a proper amount of injury time would sort this out easier than changing the entire length of the match.
