Will Pogba come straight back into the XI?

And do you expect this to be our starting XI?

DDG
AWB Mag Lindelof Shaw
Bruno Fred Pogba
James Rashford Martial

I think if we could get Sancho, keep Ighalo and maybe a new CB we'd really be starting to see improvements in the squad since Ole came in.

He’s crap as part of a two though.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
French people probably disagree.

With the right players around him, it can work.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
In that you get to top quality defensive midfielders to do the donkey work like France, and leave him to swan around then yes, that would work.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Kante isn't a DM and doesn't do the donkey work. There are plenty of times Kante is further forward than Pogba.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He does a lot of the donkey work though. Let’s face it you could put Jordan Henderson in that French team and he’d look great

Pogba was very disciplined for France, he wasn’t ‘swanning around’. But it’s a different team with different needs to United over the course of a season. Though I think one of the things that led to Pogba playing in such a disciplined way was the attack that France have. It allows Pogba to use his long and mid range passing to release the forwards and let them do their thing, at United there’s more need for him to get forward to create. Though if Bruno continues as he is and we bring in Sancho that would be less of an issue.

That's kind of how football works... Players will play better when they have quality around them.

How many times did Pogba pick up the ball in the middle, look up to see everyone static and the likes of Lingard and Perreira ahead of him.

Now he might have an inform Bruno, Rashy, Martial and... touch wood, Sancho in front of him.

If he still can't add the required consistency, then off he trots... But i'd love to see it.

There is absolutely no way we are going to line up like that.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

We shouldn’t either.

.....................McT...................

.....Fred............Pogba................

..............Bruno.............

....Rashford ........Martial....
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Could work with two top quality fullbacks providing a threat from wide positions, we don’t have any.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
We don’t have top quality fullbacks though, not in an attacking sense both are highly limited.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You’re right, I should’ve said that we don’t have any in my post...

I think what you’re both forgetting is that we don’t have any top quality fullbacks though

Could work anyway.

AWB and Shaw/Williams are nowhere near as bad going forward as people like to complain they are compared to the overwhelming majority of fullbacks. There’s also ample creativity in that front 6 and it’s play doable that Bruno play a free/sometimes false 9 role with Martial and Rashford going wide.

I think he will come straight in and I am looking forward to it. As long as he’s putting the proper effort in etc

I think he will do that because he’d be mad not to. This is the most promising the team has been throughout his time here and also post Fergie.

I know it’s early and we’ve been prematurely excited before only to be disappointed but I have positives vibes with the way our team is heading and Pogba should take the gamble to stick with us (as long as he’s a positive influence). If we add Sancho for example, Pogba plays well and youngsters continue to develop I really feel our team will be a proper force within the next 2-3 years. It’s like 2005-2006, most of the ingredients are there just a little sprinkling of paprika and all of a sudden we have a very tasty dish.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Needs more than just effort. He has to start using his brain too, learn to play simple passes instead of doing silly things, be more aware tactically. Needs to put in a defensive shift at times too.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

He need to learn to put in a shift for a full game which I’ve never seen him do, and release the ball quicker! It’s infuriating watching him get caught in possession consistently in every game as he wants a needless 6 or 7 touches in the centre of the park to try and show us he can perform a nice drag back. It drives me mad, just pass the furrrking ball quicker!

Without having the break I would have said no chance. Now I’m not sure. Would be harsh to drop one of Fred, McT and even Matic has been very good in the last few games. Bruno obviously one of the first names on the team sheet.

Nice to have some options in midfield for once.

The fact this article exists highlights a problem that shouldn't exist. Man u spent that money knowing he should be able to do what any of the listed mf players can do, quite easily, as he has so much to his game.

It's his concentration and effort levels that are an issue. It's down to the player really. Would man u pay the pogba fee for any of the others listed? No.

I wouldn't blame olly if he doesn't get back in, as even his biggest critics know he could get back in with his ability. It's if he wants to work hard and do it
