New Rule: 5 Subs

This may have been mentioned, but I'm yet to see it on here.

So not only will there be no fans, a 3 month break, no relegation and contract disruptions, we're now changing the rules mid-season? So much for keeping integrity in the game.

"IFAB has confirmed teams will be permitted to use a maximum of five substitutes during matches.

Here's how it will work:

To reduce disruption to the match, each team will have a maximum of three opportunities to make substitutions during the game; substitutions may also be made at half-time.

If both teams make a substitution at the same time, this will count as one of the three opportunities for each team.

Unused substitutions and opportunities are carried forward into extra time.

Where competition rules allow an additional substitution in extra time, teams will each have one additional substitution opportunity; substitutions may also be made before the start of extra time and at half-time in extra time. The use of return substitutes is not an option for senior competitions."

It’s a bit of a random rule to me. Reducing it by two players just seems arbitrary. You can have 7 players on the bench and still social distance. Why not have 3 players and not 5, if it will make such a difference lol

....

Was this meant to be funny because you can’t be serious.

In an empty stadium, and you think you can’t have 7 substitute players inside the stadium and social distance, but suddenly can with 5. I think you can’t be serious if you’re struggling to understand.

It isn’t about social distancing you idiot. The sub issue has nothing to do with it.

How the eff do you think players will social distance during games?

The article is about subs not distancing during games. Let's not add new criteria to make this less of a sharticle.

It is all becoming nonsensical now, changing rules halfway through a season, just to try to finish it, meanwhile hundreds are still catching and not recovering from the virus.

Our leaders and football authority bods should hang their heads in shame, that they are even thinking of restarting football. The Football Authorities are gutless and incapable of making a decision. The season should have been scrapped a month or so back.
