79 Cup Final.

Todays trip down memory lane, brought to you by ITV at 5pm, is the dramatic conclusion to the 1979 FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Manchester United.
This was a few months before I was born, and I had to wait until 1987 for Arsenals first trophy in my lifetime - but the wait was worth it with trophies flowing for the next 2 decades.

So my related question is, do you take any interest in what your club did before you supported them? For some on here 1979 was decades before their birth, does Arsenals triumphs before your birth bring any joy? Are names like Brady, Stapleton, Nelson, Talbot and Sunderland familiar to you? Can you name any of the 71 double winning team? Are the events of May 26th 1989 ones you enjoy?

Too easy. Game over.

Might not even bother with the second half tbh...

The quality is absolute rats but Brady looks as though he could do it today. A class above.

Nice to see Utd getting smashed even 40 years on.

Can’t see united pulling this back, definitely can’t see arsenal going on and getting a 3rd if United did draw level

Probably just a consolation...

First match Arsenal vsChelsea (stepbrother was a blue and wanted me to be one) I lived in Hackney so I said I'd support the winner no way would I be a spuud and Arsenal won 2-1 and been a gooner ever since so I grew up with Bertie Mee Terry Neill and boring football but we had great players, Bradey, Charlie George, Champagne Charlie, Bob Mcnab was one of my heroes as I played right back Pat Rice was left back nostalgia is a great thing in these worrying times puts things into prospective when you talk to younger people and there views on life and what's important
