This is bloody riduculous!

Tackling will be banned, pitches disinfected and players restricted to groups of five when the Premier League starts a first phase of team training.

Official protocols sent to players and managers on Tuesday and obtained by the BBC reveal that social distancing must be "strictly observed".

Corner-flags, balls, cones, goalposts and even playing surfaces will be disinfected after each session.

League bosses hope training can begin on Monday, restricted to 75 minutes.

Ongoing surveillance measures included in further guidance include twice-weekly testing, and a daily pre-training questionnaire and temperature check.

There is no way that this season can be completed in a way that will avoid being unfair to some clubs, nor in a way that can maintain the integrity of the competition.

There will be a few priorities to try and maintain though, none of which will require the completion of the season:

Work out a way to resume football safely when the time is right, with contingency plans etc set out.

Maintain the integrity of the competition and avoid anything that will compromise next season, whenever that might be able to happen.

Find a way to protect the survival of as many clubs as possible by a coordinated action, instead of a `pull the ladder up Jack` and self preservation attitudes to the competition.

If they want to experiment with ways of running football matches safely, set up pre season friendlies, or whenever it's safe to do so. Don't use the dregs of this compromised season as a test lab for next season while pretending that it's just the current season running it natural course.

The Integrity is severely compromised restarting this season. Rates of infection will probably be lower in three months, probably significantly lower, which alleviates stress on resources and provides a far safer environment for players. This allows more time for planning in what is a complex situation. Rushed decisions under hugely pressurized conditions, brought about by the footballing authorities, could have huge detrimental ramifications for some clubs and public health.

In four days time Billy, Prem Officially ends. That will be it, and we can all move on and look forward to getting that up and running as soon as possible.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Heard the same thing from your for weeks about the German league and how there is no chance, yet here we are, two days away from it resuming. Every day that goes by, the chance of the Prem starting again increases.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Even if Prem resumes, I will not, along with thousands, probably millions, give it any legitimacy. It will be done in three days. Cobbling together a finish will never be seen as anything but a stunt.

Why would giving an opinion be a WUM. May as well say the whole board are on the WUM.

Coming from you Winston, that post is hilarious.

Because you know the league isn’t due to end in four days, or whatever it is you said.

And why is it hilarious? You can accuse me of many things but being a wum isn’t one of them.

Absolutely Sandy, a resumption will amount to nothing more than something akin to a collection of pre season friendlies, with half hearted players, a new fudged together and fabricated routine and the eventual devaluation of this mockery into some kind of football parody.
