Newcastle Takeover & FFP

Can anybody explain why post FFP when there is any talk of new owners ala Abramovich, Sheik Mansour/PSG etc. I keep reading that FFP will stop the new owners going on a massive spending splurge.

Why are there so many articles linking Newcastle with the likes of Gareth Bale, Kalidou Koulibaly and Phillipe Coutinho to name a few. Bale himself is supposedly on £600k pw after tax??!!

Surely the journalists/media making these claims know more about FFP than the average man and wouldn't bother making such farcical claims even if we know they tend to bend the truth sometimes...

If the Saudis do take over at Newcastle and they end up signing players of this ilk that will be the final straw for me with ENIC/Joe Lewis et al. They can f right off.

I have also put this on the Man U board as the debate on there is normally good and there was rumours of the Saudis being interested in buying United previously, not to mention the players being linked to Newcastle are now the same targets for Man U & Spurs etc.

Newcastle fans do make me laugh with this takeover, SSN were doing some vox-pops a few weeks ago and it was basically like:

“Yeah, MBS has ordered the killing of a journalist, tortured activists, started proxy wars but Mike Ashley wouldn’t give Keegan transfer funds and changed the name of the stadium, so, you know, who’s the REAL monster?“

Hang on a sec. Man City's 2 year European Ban still stands as of now. Ok they are appealing but there is no garantee the ban will be reduced. The loss of Champion League's revenue will hit them and they will not be as aggressive in the transfer market going forward.

How come some of are acting as if it is a done deal?

If City's ban is upheald then there's nothing stopping the owners blowing everyone else out of the transfer market.

Apart from the third year, when City return to the Champions league.

They use club accounts for the last three years to determine FFP, so thats this year and the two coming years when City would be banned. City will have to be on good behaviour if they want to get back in.

yep, you can go and spend another 100 million on fullbacks next summer. That'll teach them.

They'll still have to comply with FFP if they want to be allowed back in. After the ban is lifted and City have broken FFP in the relevant financial period(last three years) then they will be barred again on FFP grounds.

Maybe they could hack PSG's database and see how they managed to get away eith it.
