Back To School ?

Off topic I know but can I just ask what the majority on here with children whom attend school are planning to do if Boris green lights schools to reopen in June ?

My wife and I have already agreed we will not be allowing our youngest to return till September as we feel it's way to soon to risk it , they can fine me all they want I don't give a fook.

There sprouting this bollix about washing there hands and distance between kids, but obviously they have no idea how hard it is to keeps kids hands of there face and out of there mouths and to keep 6 year olds apart.

Anyone else not returning there child ?

GT, apologies, didn't mean to insinuate you were.

I'm just saying that people who object to starting - including players - aren't necessarily wrong.

I agree that the authorities probably know more than us (although don't bank on it!), but we won't truly know if this is a good decision until much further down the line.

To me its less about the players/coahes etc as that can be a controlled environment.

2 things make it difficult.

Firstly, the very fact the neutral grounds are currently being insisted upon shows there to be a significant risk that idiots will turn up on mass outside grounds. German clubs are pleading with their fans not to do this and we'll see how it goes there. They have some pretty fanatic fans, so it will be a true test. Here we probably have more idiots though.

Secondly its perception. Many fans insist the restart as being safe and are incredulous of any suggestion against it. However, there are millions of people in this country who do not give a toss about football. My wife is an NHS worker, caught Covid, returned to work yesterday after 3 weeks off with it, and while she understands that plans have to be made, if football restarts or continues when this virus is still at current levels or the r level goes up as rules are relaxed, then there will be huge levels of animosity towards football and footballers. Even football fans treat players with contempt, Rose aired genuine feelings about a restart and there were so many "oh poor Rose on £80k a week, suck it up" type of comments. The country and politicians etc rounded on greedy footballers not taking a pay cut. I would not blame footballers for not wanting to restart if there is real anti-feeling towards the decision to do so.

I want it to restart in a safe & fair way and not for the game to be dragged through the dirt. Many do not care about football and at a time when people are prevented from seeing loved ones, family, having holidays cancelled, losing their jobs, people dying etc care has to be taken in moving forward. IT has to be seen to be the right thing.

Golf tour starts again in a couple of weeks, England cricket team back in training with the West Indies series expected to start in July. Public hold courses open again which I'll be playing on Monday. Excellent.

How can you think individual non contact sport is any comparison to team contact sport.

I don't see why it is so frowned upon about football restarting. You can have your opinions about it, but its still a job for these players regardless, so why should it be treated any differently?

I understand the risk involved, for example fans congregating outside of grounds, and I also understand that's a much larger scale than a lot of businesses, but I think that would only be a minority anyway because I do believe the majority of us are acting responsibly. I've never personally agreed with neutral venues anyway, because even though there is more travelling involved, you'd only really have potentially 2 clubs within the same area at any time, whereas neutral venues could mean more travelling for the likes of some clubs potentially.

I understand the risk is a larger scale, but most businesses trying to bring people back to work have it the same, so just act accordingly. Keep testing the players daily and if any display symptoms, have them self-isolate for 2 weeks and then bring them back. If you're at a point where a squad is so depleted, just cancel their fixtures and rearrange them for a later date. I don't really care when this season gets finished, but lets just get it finished.
