It seems to be that the government wants children back at school by early June.
Who is willing to risk their children going back?
As many of you know ive been living and working in China until Jan this year. Their schools have opened just last month after around 3 months of lockdown, with universities a d High schools opening first, then middle schools, grades 4 to 6 and lasting kindergarten and grades 1 to 3. This wasn't universal though as some places opened later than others (local governments had a say in when schools opened, with Hubei province being last to open their schools). And they only started opening up when cases dropped and was close to zero.
My own family in the UK aren't going to risk sending kids back to school just because the government says so. Not when the numbers of infections and deaths are still this high. Not when there are health problems within my family and not when some of the classrooms aren't big enough to practice social distances with the number of kids in the classroom. The government has seemed to decide when they want schools to open without putting in a plan first and then deciding when it's best to open.
The Chinese government, whatever you feel about them and their handling of their response to the Coronavirus, has got the timing of reopening schools right.

At the end of the day there has to come a point where we try to move forward with life. We can't just sit around a wait for a vaccine for the next 12 months or whatever else, things need to happen, but sensibly.
